Can anyone tell me how to remove the lock/latch mechanism from the lid?

Too new for me but here is a video that might help. Lock removal starts at about 4 minutes.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7fZXYCtLiFE This one shows more detail. It's a glove box lock but I think they are the same. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=deZuodqeVsY The only thing I would not do is to rotate the latch part like this guy says to do because I think there are two tabs on the latch that fit onto slots in the door and it will damage the door or the latch if you try rotate it.
