Recently acquired: 1968 C60 NAPCO 4wd....

Yes, its true. I hired a lowboy to truck it home the 300 miles but shes in my yard. Now, shes no cream-puff but there is tons of potential. It is factory napco conversion. The original owner was a feedmill in Loyal Wisconsin. Supposedly a fertilizer truck. Came equiped with a BigBlock (size yet to be determined). 5speed trani. Divorced transfer case. Wet knuckle with drum brakes. Power steering (ram assist) and power vacuum brakes. Has one buddy bucket in it but the framework has been cobbled so i dont know if there should of been two. The cab is pretty bad around the roof where the marker lights leaked. Somebody butchered the clip to accomodate the 52 inch tires. It has 2 operational rear pto outputs. One on the trani and one on the transfer case. Originally was a dual rear wheel unit but the current tires dont allow enough room. It runs and drives nice but has been severly neglected. I hope to give it a "joesjunk" level restoration down the road after my kids get older. Until then it will be throwing dirt in the back 40 for a spell.
And to think the last guy was glad to see it leave (hes a FORD GUY). I cant count all the thumbs up we got trailering it home......... More pics to come! |

Neat truck. Around here threre are literally thousands of C40 and larger trucks still in use on farms and most are low milers that have lived in sheds most of their lives. I bet you could find a cherry cab and other good stuff for that thing easy. I parted a cab from a rollover C60 and got alot of good rust free sheet metal that is compatable with regular 1/2 - 1 ton cabs.

Re: Recently acquired: 1968 C60 NAPCO 4wd....
I don't think I could get it under my car port so it wouldn't make it back to the garage - and I KNOW the wife wouldn't let me keep one in the front yard... all the grass would die! Too kewl!

Re: Recently acquired: 1968 C60 NAPCO 4wd....
I really like the front looks of that truck. There's a dump truck near my house and each time I drive by it, I keep telling myself it would look cool with a longbed and regular pickup tires on it.

Its really a ***** to get into. One foot on the tire and rest your knee on the rocker. I was thinking of either a wrecker boom (holmes 660) or a homemade stepside with the new repro fenders. Even with 8 inches of lift and 37's it still dwarfs my burb. The previous owner used it to pull guys out of the mudpit. Once he had this stuck and it took three 4-wheel drives just to rock it. My wife said this is by far the worst truck i have brought home. My kid loves it. My neighbors slow down when driving by. Hopefully this wont draw too much attention from the DNR flying over.

Re: Recently acquired: 1968 C60 NAPCO 4wd....
that looks like an Eaton axle in the front...
what kind of trans and transfer does it have? any pics of those? I have heard that when our era medium duty trucks came with a BB, they got the chrome vent on the hood side. i'd guess 366 or 427 tall deck. |

Another good source for large series parts are school busses. The front ends are relatively unchanged til 84 when fiberglass was introduced. Also a mecca for big big block stuff, although most were 366, some were tall deck 427. This pic is a 75 model.:metal:

Re: Recently acquired: 1968 C60 NAPCO 4wd....
The only way that beast would look better is if it was driving over a riced out civic (or 2). That's cooler than a Unimog.....

Re: Recently acquired: 1968 C60 NAPCO 4wd....
Just plain AWESOME!!! However, i am glad we didn't have to drive it home from texas! I expect it to make the trip to my place soon. Wish i could have made the trip with you, but i was hauling my own 4x4. Not quite as big however. I like...
