1949 Chevy Truck "Don't Hate"!!
 

I bought this truck a few years ago and all that was salvageable was the cab. I originally chopped it and then it sat for another 2 years. Well I finally found a direction for it and this may be hard for some Original build guys to stomach!!! LOL

Take a look and tell me what you all think!!

Definitely different. Looks like you are building a rat rod. I can appreciate the amount of work you have in it although I'm not into them. It's your truck so do what makes you happy.

It is got a cool look to it. i often wondered how one of these trucks would look with the windshield laid back.....now I know!!!

Thanks guys!! I know everyone isn't into this kind of build, but its a little outside the box for some other sites as well!!!! I have been looking at all of the builds on this site for a long time and finally decided to post some pics hoping I wouldn't be a stepchild here as well!! LOL

I have it posted at KB and RRR! Some like it and some don't get it!! I'm one of those have to be different people! It's an affliction!!:smoke:

I think it is cool for what you are trying to accomplish. My $.02, it needs to be sectioned several inches all the way fro the firewall to through the bed-it looks a little "thick in the hips."

It's yor truck , it's your money, screw the haters. Like the lean back look of the a-pillars and the slight widows peak at the windshield.

My opinion..... I think it could have been better if the cowling hadn't been stretched forward (although I'm sure you needed leg room), and that front suspension wasn't sticking way out in front. the rear suspension set up is pretty cool, though I'm not sold on the bed design. I'm not against rat rodding a trashed truck, I guess. The chop and laid back window are kinda cool.

I love the way these things look when they are slammed with no front fenders and hood, and no bed. They look like little pissed off race cars. In this case, it almost looks like too much effort was made to make the whole thing look "ratted and radical", chassis design wise.

I'm not trying to hate, as I admire your hard work. I simply figured I'd jump off the edge and be the first to give a little criticism.

I am not going to hate one bit on it. Just glad you finally saw the light and brought it over. Its not normal to see an AD truck done like this and I like it. Dare to be different. btw the way I am on those other two sights but using a different screenname here since I am associated with F!@#s over there. lol.

Man you are not a step child at all. You are rodder and I welcome all rodders into the fold even stock people for that matter. I just care about building and being creative and having your own ideas and you have yours. Do your thing and the heck with what people think, you are building for you not them.

Well I used the stock front axle, modified the spindles by turning them down on a lathe to accept the 78up monte carlo rotors and bearings. Oddly enough the outer bearings fit, the only mod was turning down the spindle to get the inner to fit and then making the spacer for the correct placement on the spindle and for the inner seal. Worked really well!! I made the front hairpins and will be running a suicide front spring.

All I was after was something totally different but not throwing crazy things on it like saw blades or and old amnure spreader!! LOL I'm not really after a rat rod or a vintage but more of something when looked at during a show for someone to say to themselves "How in the world did they come up with that?"

Thanks for the input!! About the front cowl section, it is actually 3" longer than where the firewall was originally. I used the numbers from the old modelA's and did some mock-up before coming to what it is now. With the grille shell in place it brings the stretched look in closer. I actually have a pair of 1928 modelA front fenders that I had planned on using before coming up with the fenderless route.

Redheaded stepchild or not u got some skills. that tube chassis took some time to plan out i bet. very sweet..:metal:

Thanks Troy54gmc!! I have built a bunch of Dirt and Asphalt Modifieds in my day and decided that I wanted to use the underslung type frame I used on my cars. It worked out pretty well!! Glad you like it!!
