Title and VIN plate

Why was this deleted? Are you from NYS? Do you know their laws?? Stuff rusted out here prolly more than any other state. So if I have a truck with no title then it has to be scrapped, all because can't take a vin tag off a good truck for a cab that is bad. And I thought this was a good site...nevermind, delete it anyways

It may or may not be legal where you are. The fact of the matter is the owners of this board can get in trouble for allowing this type of thread. It has never been allowed and all posts like yours have to be closed. It really is nothing personal.

I just talked to a body shop. They used to do it all the time. Now this is with the style truck, obviously not something new. You can buy a clean cab from a junkyard with no title, so somehow people are doing this. As long as the truck isn't stolen then there is no real issue. Or if someone has a cab with title Im interested.

As OP pointed out, we don't know your local laws. Best advice is start with what serves as your local DMV. Here in Oklahoma, that would be the Motor Vehicle Division of the Tax Commission. That is where I started when I purchased a M35A2 Deuce military truck that had no title. They gave me a procedure to follow to get a title. Most states want vehicles brought into compliance as that is one more vehicle that is generating tax income.

I was born and raised in NY.. my Mom worked as a court clerk in NY... so yes I actually do know the laws there.

However, being this site is run and based out of NC , that has nothing to do with anything. VIN TAG changes, requests etc are not allowed on the site. Its been that way for many years. You can call DMV and ask them for information on how to do so legally,.
