Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket

I have no idea what the mounting stud pattern is on that booster that they are using. The '67-'70 boosters are one of the boosters that are compatible with all of my booster brackets. The '71 & '72 boosters have a different mounting stud pattern and require slight elongation of the holes in my booster brackets.

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket

I have a question about your bracket, I have an original type booster on my truck now with the step down style bracket that attaches to the firewall. With your bracket is the rod that goes to the brake pedal at an angle?

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket

That will depend on whether you install it in the original hole in the pedal or drill a new hole for a better ratio. I would say that in the original hole it should be fairly straight.

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket

Will I have any trouble with the automatic shift linkage on the steering column as far as clearance issues with the booster? do you have any pictures of it installed on a column shift truck? Thanks

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket

If you use your original booster or one the same size, it will interfere with the column shift linkage. You will need to use a booster with a diameter less than about 10". No I do not have any installed pics other than what members have posted in this thread.

Ok, thanks. The Wilwood setup I'm going to use has a 8" booster so it should work out.

Thanks for the previous reply. Sorry to keep questioning you but getting parts from the USA to here is expensive so i want to make sure things will work if I buy them. Frank (vendor Pickemup ) in Olympia is selling this master/booster proportioning valve combo and I'd like to use it in conjunction with you bracket. In Post 2/3 of this thread the booster you how hanging on your bracket seems to be the same as the one in the attached pic of Franks so am I to assume Franks will work will your bracket. I have 1972 C10 350/350 with factory original power brakes.

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket

The booster and master assembly you show in that picture, will bolt right up to your firewall since it is an original replacement assembly. No additional bracket is needed. My booster brackets are typically used with nonstock boosters to get everything closer to the firewall. Additionally, my booster brackets are not compatible with a column shifted auto trans unless the booster is smaller than about 10" in diameter. If you do want to eliminate the factory brackets and get everything closer to the firewall, the booster mounting holes will have to be elongated if that is an original style '71-'72 booster.

Thanks for the info. My idea was to use smaller booster ( this one is 9 inches ) and get it right up to the firewall. Sounds like I should just use the above setup the way it is.

I'll throw in a pic of mine after I got it all buttoned up. Looks so much better tucked in toward the firewall.

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket

I would be happy to sell you one of my booster brackets. I just wanted you to understand that you will not be using any part of those factory mounting brackets. That will end up costing you more money than just buying a compatible booster and master cylinder locally along with my booster bracket.

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket

Captain, it looks like your bracket might cure a clearance issue I'm having with my 68 K10. My new intake and carb setup isn't working with the stock 11" booster location and I'm looking for a solution that would allow me to mount a smaller diameter booster closer to the firewall.

Will your bracket help me to accomplish that goal?

If so, what booster and master cylinder do you recommend I use with your bracket. I converted the front axle to disc brakes and have the correct proportioning block. My truck has a floor shifted automatic.
