insert "catchy build name" here

As the stars line up, hopefully I will have a new build starting this weekend. It has been awhile since I sold my last project truck almost 10 years ago. This one will be slightly different, a lot of the mechanicals are done. I am buying a project from a guy that just lost the desire to finish. Then he went and bought a F350 w/ 7.3.

Anyways, here's what I am getting:

1984 K20 with CUCV axles (4.56 gears and Detroit), GM performance 350, Raptor 700R4 and NP208. Crossover steering done sitting on 35s with 6" all spring lift. Rear disc brakes. Cab is gutted and almost ready for paint. All front sheet metal is off. He has put a couple years into.

My biggest problem will be keeping my oldest son from hi-jacking the project and trying to put a Cummins in it!

Pictures to follow........

Can't go wrong with that. Sounds like my buddy's '85 GMC K1500 he put K30 axles, rear disc, locker, and built a TPI350 for. He sold it with the body never touched, but he upgraded the interior to black and even had the late Suburban AM/FM/CD in it. The tailgate had a dealer badge from Williamsburg, so it spent most of it's years not too far from you. I gave him my 4L80E/NP241 for it but he decided to sell it...for $7k. He just told me the guy did the body and now it's for sale for $12k. "Catchy Build Name", I like that!
If you don't mind, I'll show a few pictures for comparison

Got the truck home yesterday. Then it started raining and had to cover it up. I will get some pics today.

One of things I missed was the rim size, 15x14 with 2" of offset. Not the size I wanted, I might look for some 16" or 17" rims, 10-12" wide and some nice 37s.

Progress, 1 week in:

fenders, inner fenders, doors and hood on. Routed headlight wiring harness, hooked up grounds. Head lights in as well as grill/headlight trim. The guy I got the truck off of did a good job of saving the hardware.

Plans for the following week:

windshield and back glass in
Engine has some vacuum line issues to resolve: vac advance, pcv valve and vacuum supply to climate controls.
Also need to adjust the TV cable, I think I will just buy the holly brackets and use a new TV cable I have.

I need to snap a pic when the cover is off the truck too.

Just a little update. Sold the 15" rims/tires and mounted some 37" Goodyear's on M/T classic 2s. I have put about 900 miles on her. I also had the rear driveshaft lengthened. The PO had blanked off the firewall where the AC/heater components went so I plan on getting a universal heater to mount on the firewall. I also rebuilt the carb and got the timing set.

Been awhile for an update. I replaced the driver side window motor and have basically been driving the truck every couple days. I did replace the front rotors and repack the wheel bearings.

This is the best picture I have at work, I will try and post a better one. I also replaced the tailgate with one from the K30 I just got. So my Scottsdale has a Silverado tailgate.

Time for an update. I replaced the dash pad and bought a long step side bed that was on a 1986 K20.

Picked up some new (mfr date 2012) OZs. Had them mounted on some old school slots. I ordered the lug nuts from rock auto. I also test fitted one of the mags on my K5.

Not sure how I feel about these, slightly taller but mounted on 16.5 x 9.75 vice the 12" wide rims. Might need some 39s!
