high build primer over epoxy/bodywork?

I took my body panels to bare metal and epoxy primed them...I've done most of the body work now..first with filler, then used evercoat on top of that...most of my panels are ready and done..they are a mix of bodywork and epoxy primer...
question....
do I need to put epoxy primer over the top of my body work and then spray high build or can I just spray high build over everything (epoxy primer and bodywork)...I tried searching this but can't find a good answer...
or what would be best for the final spray at this stage before paint?
epoxy primer is tan..concerned about keeping a consistent base color under the paint...
thanks

Epoxy is only meant for bare steel as a rust prevention coating. It will stick to painted surfaces but serves no benefit there.
Urethane high build primer is your next step.
Always refer to the technical data sheets of the products you are using.

Unless, you should have bare metal around the edges of the body work. After I finsh my bodywork I normally spray a couple light coats on the body worked areas just so the rust protection is complete. After the body filler get a coat or two of epoxy then yes it is on to high build. Good luck and happy sanding. Jim

so hugger, your saying I need to spray over the body work and surrounding bare metal with epoxy primer again?...then do the high build?..gotcha..will do...
on another truck I did I sprayed over the body work with a automotive grade rattle can primer...that paint job didn't really matter on that one...but it seemed to do ok...
but until this truck ive never used epoxy primer or high build primer on anything, so im unsure of what steps I needed to follow in the primer stages...still learning...

From what I have read and done its always good to use the benefits of epoxy when you continue onto the next steps in bodywork. You seal off the layer below and you usually gain adhesion using epoxy to chemically bond coatings together.

For example on my truck I am doing the following. Blasted metal, 2 coats of epoxy, filler work, sand filler, scuff entire surface if out of epoxy recoat window, 1 coat of epoxy, high build, blocking, high build, blocking, epoxy reduced as a sealer, base, clear.

No matter what you do make sure everything is properly scuffed and cleaned before you move on.

What products are you using for epoxy and high build?
