I found this for $80. I went with it for being older with raw aluminum rather than modern black on my era accessorized truck

Attachment 1779541

Just in time for Spring Carlisle.

Attachment 1779542

I think I have now surpassed purchase price by buying a set of 50 state travel stickers, tangerine colored window tint spray, foam seal, and will be either buying a frosting spray to go behind the tint or something like smoked to get close to the condition of the bubble windows. Not planning on viewing scenery from inside anyway. Had to clamp beach towels over the windows for Carlisle. The pole lights shine bright all night!

Same here, Paul. It was .... different? for me this year. Busier than a billy goat with two peckers right now, so barely threw it all together. But I made it!! I usually hang a medium green 67-72 glovebox door with Special-K on it from my ez-up. Always down near Lutey's and just up from Arizona Steve with the Southwestern truck parts. I never even spoke with Steve. He was sick and laid out in his Freightliner when I stopped by. My buddy Billy from NH just had his dad, who he was very close with, pass away the week before so was not there. I usually attend an old-timer's gathering for bean soup and BS Friday evening and never got by. Never saw Danny and Tommy, my friends from VA I also see at the rod runs. Heck, I hope they're still alive. I never saw Danny's dually and car trailer at his spot and he normally buzzes by to talk. Times change and all that, but it's been Steady Eddie for so long. Heck, even Tommy my truck paint buddy from WVA never came by to drink up my Jim Beam. Had to let Barn drink that for some good Friday night entertainment. Got him to stay over the first time...since his keys ended up in BJ, his son's pocket. That crazy S.O.B.was ready to roll on down the pike or stay up all night when we were crawling into our quarters. I asked him about replacing my outer rockers on the '72 since he does such good work after 45 years of experience. He said $3,000 . Told him I'll have to find someone a little more passionate about their work  Great times as always. BTW, it was a 3 beer night for me. I'm the light weight in the bunch...of guys my son's age!

Back to Craigslist. I can't find chit mon! :ito:

This is in LaGrande Oregon (northeastern). Advertised in Orange County California. My brother went and looked at it for me. Bit more work than I want right now and I would need to drag it home to California. Has rust through rockers, engine needs rebuild, needs wood bed replaced and the usual other issues with these trucks. But for $1500 OBO its still a pretty good deal I think. All original farm truck with 80k miles.

Wow. That truck was really cool, and just a few hundred miles or so. I'm hurting for you friend. What would you have done with it if you don't mind me asking? Keep as is , add to your collection, or flip it?

I'm a little odd in that any truck I buy is with the intent of being a keeper (though they don't always turn out that way - sometimes a keeper gets sacrificed for the next keeper I stumble onto, ha). I would have wanted to restore this one - body (really just the paint) was a little too rough for my liking to leave as is. I like patina, just not patina that looks like someone barfed on the bedsides. This 68 was about as loaded as a 68 C20 can be - and I'm a freak for Custom Campers, not sure why, it's really just a nameplate... Ha. But I like em. And the vermillion paint is a plus for me, not exactly common. Someone got a real nice deal on this one.

here I go quoting myself again... sorry. But here's the SPID on the White 72 Custom Deluxe - it is indeed a Highlander. If you don't mind a little work, this is an inexpensive (not in the long run perhaps) nicely optioned truck. Especially if you like a manual trans. I've always liked white trucks with plaid, especially orange plaid! Makes me miss my highlander :whine:

Now this one kinda has me curious... Listed as a "Red Raider Special" - I exchanged some comms with the seller a while back (because I assumed it was just a black truck to which someone had added a red roof and mid-section ala 71-72 deluxe two tone paint combo - and that "red raider special" was just urban legend) and asked for a SPID. I didn't get the SPID - but then noticed today that seller added it to his listing. It's indeed a Special Paint RPO truck. Anyone ever heard of a Red Raider Special or seen a black/red 71-72 paint scheme on a 69? Can kinda make out some white under the red, so who knows... :)

EDIT: FWIW, the "Red Raiders" are from the Texas Tech, located in Lubbock, and this truck is for sale in Austin... ;) Hmmm...
