I have a set of those (ebay ones), didn't think they came off our trucks though.....

Re: GMC "Custom" door emblems

The e-bay emblems are for the 69-72 trucks. (maybe 68) They mounted above the door handle. Some came with a camper script that went with it.
kwplot, those are correct for 67-68. Those mounted in the center of the door right below the glass.

Re: GMC "Custom" door emblems

GMCs used that script.Chevy used the same script in a rectangle.`67 GMCs had a unique vertical rectangle on the fenders with the same script.Chevy and GMC used the exact same piece on Custom Campers. They are hard to come by and not reproduced.

My 72 Jimmy has them on the doors above the handle. Mine is a 2wd Cheyanne package truck. I had the emblems rechromed by Sherms plating in Sacramento... they look like new now.:metal:

I have seen them on plenty of trucks. At swap meets, you can find them easily.

These are on my '72

Re: GMC "Custom" door emblems

Theyre not reproduced and are worth pretty decent money in good chrome and good posts. It`s tougher to find both the Custom and the Camper.I`d say they are worth $20-25 each.

If somebody wants a pair, I have a nice set for sale that I took off a set of rust-free doors. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=315107

What package or item was required to have the "Custom" script emblem above the door? I have a 69 GMC SWB fleet that came with these. Manes now offers as repo, but they ain't cheap!

Fair enough. What did the buyer get with the custom option?

Re: GMC "Custom" door emblems

Custom Cloth seat, vinyl door panels, deluxe dash knobs (color-matched rubber mat?) on the inside.
Lower belt moulding,tailgate/tail light trim (upper/lower),brightwork window trim on the outside.

There may be some hings I missed but that's how you can ID one in 69. It's mid-level trim.

Re: GMC "Custom" door emblems

Thanks much, my truck still had all those items on it when I received it. I went to the Moultrie, GA swap meet this past weekend, which is the largest in the southeast, and no one had ever seen or heard of the custom script emblem above the door. It must not have been common because I've never seen another truck with it at a car show or swap meet. I have seen the Longhorn script, but not just plain Custom.

Re: GMC "Custom" door emblems

i don't think GMC had the lower trim on the custom package. My 69 GMC never had it, and a friend's 69 GMC custom never did either. Mine was an early 69, can't remember if the other was early or not.
Chrome front bumper and wingvent frame, and I think window rubber with the molding was all part of it too.

Re: GMC "Custom" door emblems

The "Custom" script on my '67 GMC is slightly different than the "Custom" script on my '69 GMC Custom Camper. The t in the 67 has a much longer bar for one thing.

Re: GMC "Custom" door emblems

My 3/4 ton 70 GMC burb has the custom script on the doors. It also has the lower trim band and carpet with vinyl door panels. It also has black vinyl bench seat, the rear seat is gone. It had the 402 w/4spd.

There was a post a while ago on the Blazer/Jimmy board by 'old man jimmy' in which he put up the actual option cost sheet. Take a look under 'Accessory & Option Groups'. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=362124

I have a '69 GMC Custom Camper (longhorn) that has just the "Custom" above the door handle. No mention of the "camper". I have looked at he inside of the door and can not find any evidence that 'camper' was ever there. The doors on the truck are original to the truck.

Any ideas?
