15x6 on 5 lug conversion

2 Attachment(s)
Well, I made the voyage down to TX over the weekend to pick up my '65 Step side and drove it back the 7 hours back home. Needless to say, I have bonded with this truck. I am wanting to put the 15" x 6" steelies from the '72 (I believe) and up trucks. It has the 5 lug conversion, but I'm not really sure how it was done as I know only about the '88 on up trucks. I have attached pics of the setup, now and I'm wondering if anyone has any insight on whether the narrower 5 lug wheels will fit. It currently has 15x8 truck rallies on it. Sorry pics are sideways, let me know if I need to rotate to help. Thanks!

That look like a set of drop spindles and the standard truck brakes. If you can find the later wheels they should fit fine.

If the rally’s fit, then Steelies will as well. I’m running 15x7 rally’s in the front of my truck, 235/70/15 tires. Drops spindles and 2”coils

What's up bpope, nice to see someone else close to home on here! Sorry to piggyback but Clyde 65, would you say you HAVE to run that size tire with the 15's or could you go with a more low profile tire without issues? Thanks in advance!

Hey 64Rust, yeah - St. Louis guy! Just to chime in, Ive seen 215/75 and 225/75 sizes quite often.

I'd like to run the shortest tires I can on my 15s with the drop spindles and lowering coils. I have read many different opinions but nothing definitive

I ran 215/75's on the front of my '66 with the stock skinny wheels up front.

That looks killer! What kind of tires did you go with?

Venenzia Classic 787, the local tire shop had them in stock so that's what I went with. I wouldn't use them again, the whitewalls turn brown and it takes a ton of scrubbing to get them back to white. They hold up to burnouts pretty well though!
