Shipping NOS (or rare) Parts,... the Correct Way!
I just wanted to post up the "correct" way to ship parts.
So many rare or NOS parts are being sold these days for very high prices. Besides the fact that you put down your hard earned money for these items,... the real problem lies in getting these parts shipped without damage. UPS and FedEx seems to be able to destroy just about anything. Sometimes USPS is even worse. Last year I had some very nice pieces destroyed during shipping. Recently I purchased a NOS 69-70 inner grille from member southern parts. I don't know whether member southern parts,... or uncle packed it up for shipping,... but this is the way to do it! Members that ship all the time, know what I'm talking about. Other "buying members" need to take note when someone quotes you a shipping cost related to the parts they are selling. I also wanted to thank member southern parts for a very smooth transaction! Here are the pictures,... http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/data/500/g1_.jpg http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/data/500/g2_.jpg http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/data/500/g3_.jpg http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/...ille_69-70.jpg |
Re: Shipping NOS (or rare) Parts,... the Correct Way!
Quality packaging usually means more money for the buying.
(because the dimensions are bigger and the box weighs more) I had a NOS 73-87 style tailgate shipped from the east coast years ago. It was wrapped in 1 layer of thin cardboard, and a total of about 4' of tape. It arrived with a big dent in it. Most don't understand the "insurance" deal either. According to UPS,... if it's not packaged to "UPS Standards",... they don't pay on damaged items. You gotta read or know what's in the fine print. That's not something they advertise. |
