carb adjustment?
ok iknow you are supose to set the timing with your vacume advance disconected how about carb adjustment vacume advance hooked up or not hookedup?

If your asking about adjusting the mixture, I have always left the vacume advance connected. Use a tach/dwell meter for RPM settings. The easiest way I've found to adjust the idle mixture, is to turn 1 mixture screw at a time clockwise until you start to here the motor slowing up, then back out the screw to the highest idle RPM. Repeat to the other screw. Now, there are other methods of doing this, such as checking timing, etc. But just for a regular motor, this has always worked for me......

You are suppose to set your timing with the vaccum advance hose disconnected and plug with a bolt or a my favorite is a golf tee .. then you can use a timing light on the harmonic dampener to read the timing
When adjusting the carb I always leave it connected ... If you vaccum advance is hooked to manifold vaccum .. the idle should increase slightly when you plug it back in .. Adjusting idle mixture is best done with a vaccum gauge |
readin the vacuum gage
Here is a great site to explain vacuum gage readings.
