old leaf springs

Hello
I have a pair of rear leaf springs that I bought 25 years ago. They have been sitting since then in my shed. I want to lower my blazer and remove the lift.
any reason not to use them. can springs go bad just by sitting
Thanks

Re: old leaf springs

If the spring eye bushings look OK, I'd go ahead and use them. The only things that could damage a set of springs would be exposure to extreme heat like a fire, or expose to salt water like being submerged in the ocean for a long time. Heat from a fire will remove the temper from the steel and render them useless. Deep corrosion pitting will also weaken the springs. You are probably good to go.
