15x8 Wheel options 71’ K10 Backspacing
Hi All,
I’m looking at some new steel wheels for my 71’ K10 4x4 and was wondering what backspacing I should go for. I’ll be fitting a 33’ tire, specifically a 33x12.5 and hope to find hub caps. What backspacing is recommended? - I’ve heard mixed things. Here are the wheels I’m looking at: https://cooperrestorations.com/product/15x8-steelie-6-lug-wheel-5-5-bolt-pattern/ https://www.ecklers.com/chevy-gmc-truck-series-12-smoothie-wheel-powdercoat-primer-steel-6-lug-61-855286-1.html?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&adpos=&scid=scplp61-855321-1&sc_intid=61-855321-1&gclid=CjwKCAjwo4mIBhBsEiwAKgzXOM2jdZb98Bwthu45y_X29Tct17HnqfOyS3ghEjfSutODos8EUrBCMBoCj6cQAvD_BwE# tab-label-lyonscg_fitment_tab-title Thank you! I just saw black steelies on a suburban without the hub caps and it actually looked great. What backspacing works best for a 71 K10 4x4?

3 and 3/4” is the most common. You seen 3.5” sometimes and I think my Centerlines were 3 5/16” ?
Personally, I prefer at least a 9” rim for a 12.5” wide tire and I prefer my backspacing to better maintain factory steering geometries. I still run 15’s on several Jeeps, but prefer 17’s on a full size GM. 17x9 with 4.5” backspace and 33 12.5 would be a great combo IMO. |
