1966 GMC L4000 Tilt Cab throttle linkage help
 

Hey guys,

I dragged home another toy. Its a 1966 GMC tilt cab with a 305 V6. Shes in overall pretty good shape. Runs but I'm pretty sure has blown head gaskets or something worse. Smokes white pretty bad.

Anyway, my problem at hand is the throttle linkage. When I press on the pedal, nothing happens. I think the pedal rod is compressing into itself - see the video and pictures below

Does anyone have a tilt cab they can take some pictures or better yet a video? Its been kinda of difficult to find any information on these.

I have a 1968 GMC tilt cab with a 351 V6, I can take a picture of the linkage when I get home from work

2and4wheels, do you have any issues with your throttle?

I did notice that I have my throttle linkage attached to the carb differently than yours. In my head, this wouldn’t matter right now because my throttle linkage is either compressing or extending and not pushing\pulling on the carb.

The guys over on the stovebolt forum recommended me to put a hose clamp on the collapsible throttle section as a stop.

I need to get out there and study it some more.

I think you got the throttle rod in the wrong hole on the carburetor throttle lever. Shouldn't it be in the hole below the throttle shaft? If the rod pulls towards the front as you press down on the pedal, it needs to be in the bottom hole on the throttle lever

I haven't had the truck for long. It's been sitting for a couple of years, and has a clutch issue (line has a rust hole).
But the linkage is free and does not bind through idle to WOT.

Well I feel silly, but I have a working throttle now!

Once I switched to the lower position on the carb, gas pedal worked.

I still don't full understand the collapsible throttle rod part.. perhaps it has a spring on the inside of it?
