But we both had ours when they weren't that popular and we had to show our truck's registration at some street rod events to be allowed in the the 48 and earlier only show.

Yep, I remember a few, NSRA Western Nationals in Santa Maria (81?) a guy asked me "What year is your truck" and I told him "48" and he said "Well it sure looks a lot like my brothers 53!" and then stormed off. LOL

The best was at Andy's Picnic Aug 7th 1977. This would be Andy Brizio of "Andy's Instant T" father of Roy Brizio. The guy at the gate refused to let me in, I said "I have the registration" and went to hand to to him and he said I "faked" it or something. I then walked in and found Andy and he walked back up to the gate and said "Let him in" and the dip wad said "You're the boss." LOL That was the first rod run I ever drove into. So funny, yep, there wasn't a single reproduction part, NOTHING even though there was a ton of stuff for a 55 Ford F-100, there was NOTHING not even rubber or a light or anything for these trucks.

Re: Garage sign

The first event my 48 went to (and was built for) was the 1973 NSRA street rod Nationals in Tulsa. I had run in an out the front gate without an issue but after taking my wife back to the motel so she could lounge around the pool I went back and went though a back gate. The guy at the gate stopped me, told me my truck was too new and we came real close to going a round right there. Finally someone in charge came over told him to cool it and pointed out why my 48 was a 48 and not a 53 as the guy claimed and I got through the gate and didn't have to go around the fair grounds to the front gate.

Now I just need a grand kid so I can have one of those signs in my shop. My kids aren't very productive in that department.

Re: Garage sign

I just saw on their site that they have a Sparks Nevada retail store. I will be driving through there to my house in Boise in a few months when I am moving. I'll stop in and buy that sign and put it up in my garage when I get there. :metal: I pass right by it, don't remember ever seeing it. But it's right there, right along 80 where I go.

Brian,
You're moving to Boise? And need to unload all your truck parts before then? :-)

I think he has been moving truck parts as he goes when he goes up to see the grand kids. It's a gentle move from what I gather.

LOL, I have been believe me! My goal is to have mine ready to paint or best ever possible would be painted. Other than the ones going on my truck, none will be left.
