what size guage fits in our lower guage openings
1 Attachment(s)
i want to get a tranny temp guage running and if possible i want it in the left slot of the two on the right of the column. i think its made for vacuum and some have even said they had a clock there but is it possible to modify it and make a guage out of summit to fit similar to the way i did my tach?

A 2" guage fits nicely behind the clear lense (if you remove the bezel). I mounted a Stewart Warner 90 deg. sweep trans pressure gauge in that same location. If you're very careful, you can remove the paint "crown" from the backside of the lense with a modeling knife (carefully scrape it). I removed the bezel, and after I cut the sheetmetal in the back of the cluster to mount the gauge, it fit snug up against the lense. (Sorry, I don't have any pics at this point).

I just went through and removed all the lower gauges. When this was done I simply cut the lower portion of the lense off. The 2 inch gauges will bolt in perfectly using the supplied hardware.
The pic im posting, I also installed a 5inch tach (fits like a glove) and a 81 leSabre fuel gauge. http://www.myoldtruck.com/piston/images/P5180002.JPG |
