How hard is it to take camper off frame?

Not difficult, just takes time and some correct equipment.

Did once - went the route of removing camper interior, then upper skin/structure/tubing/wiring, and then the tanks/base structure down to the frame. (Thought about unbolting the camper from the frame, removing connections and then back dumping the whole thing, but not feasible and too much possibility of damage for next phase.)

Once bare, I made a few base improvements, then added aluminum, frame for cabover space and sleeper behind cab (36" deep) using original camper opening, finished with metal siding outside and vinyl sheeting inside. Added a solid repurposed flatbed with gooseneck setup, complete with headache rack to protect rear of sleeper.

This is a really nice rig. The Mitchell Brothers campers of that vintage are nicer than any others I have seen so far - better equipment, materials, designs and workmanship than the Open Road, etc. types. We had one like this for about 20 years (same paint colors as well) but with the 402 BB and 4 speed SM465 with added overdrive. Drove it just short of 100k miles and to every US state except AK and HI. Yes - it was a dream truck for us. Was sad to sell it, but wife reached a point where getting up into the cabover bed was quite challenging/inconvenient. Wish we still had it - would take off cross country tomorrow with confidence - and fun.
