Re: W&G remover

Oh thats not bad.

Re: W&G remover

That's the only brand I've ever used...
I hate the way they price stuff at oreillys...shows how much of a markup there is on stuff..

Re: W&G remover

Check your local auto paint supplier.....should be no more than $20-$25 a gallon for solvent based.

Check with SPI, they have both and list the uses for both.

Its actually where I am getting my W&G remover from ..... just deciding if I need the water based.

So just looking for some real world experience etc.

Re: W&G remover

I use Prep-all now, it is solvent-based and I get it from the local paint shop. I tried a water-based before. It worked, but wasn't very good at cleaning, especially with wax/tar. If it was a clean surface, it would make it ready for paint. I didn't have any issues with adhesion.

I am an amateur and I am interested in other replies, so don't read too far into my experience.

I use SPI’s waterborne. Be sure to allow ample time for it to flash off before application of primer or paint.

I go down to a local body shop with my 1 gallon container along with a case of beer so I don't know how much it costs. They buy it in bulk but I do believe it's solvent based. They spray PPG products.

Re: W&G remover

Haha...sounds like it's the same cost as a case of beer..

Do you get to sit there and help share/consume the payment, or is it a drop and go??

Friday's about 4:30 I seem to get the best deal. And yes a couple of cold ones after breathing sanding dust all day makes the beer taste real good.
