E-brake cables

My '72 was a disassembled basket case when I got it. I've done a frame off rebuild but I'm finding many parts that are missing. My E-brake pedal assembly is intact EXCEPT I have no cable running from the pedal assembly to the cables mounted on the frame. Has anybody got an idea where I can find the pedal cable assembly to connect it all? Thanks

Most cables I have seen come each individual cable. Subscribing to this one to see if anybody knows where the best place is.

I think Rock Auto has those....I think. Anyone else chime in?

Mine are rusted up and stuck! Although I rebuilt my rear drums I didn't solve that problem so I have to take them apart again and either replace the parking brakes or soak them in a break free and um, brake them free. :ito:

Any vendor carries them, autozone might even have them. They are all the same from 69-72 (I am talking about the front cable that runs from the pedal to the drivers side frame rail.)

The best place is probably the nearest auto parts store.

Re: E-brake cables

I dislike the ones they sell now a days. They have a smooth black casing and they don't lock in place like the originals with the spiral metal casing.

What that means is when you press the pedal down, instead of only the cable moving, the casing wants to pull through the clamp so the brakes don't lock on properly. Look at the back of your brake pedal assembly and there is a clamp that locks the cable in place. That's the area that it just slides around in.

I have 2 new cables and I am replacing them with good used ones because of this.

You say In-Line tube has them? I've used ILT before and they have solid stuff. If they have the pedal cable, I'm on it!

This is where inline comes into play....

Found them on In Line Tube! They come as OE or SST. Also, it's the correct 'braided' design. Thanks for the ILT tip!
