Removing interior door trim

I have a 1972 C10 and I need to get inside the door to work on the window regulator but can't see how to remove the window winder, lock handle and trim. I purchased the C10 factory assembly manual but this gives me no pointers.

Anyone got any ideas of better repair manuals and how to get the trim off?

The handles should have little horseshoe clips that hold them on. Once those are off remove he armrest and then the the 2(?) screws that go thru the panel into the door. Once those are off grab a corner of the door panel and gently pull on it to release the plastic clips that hold it on the door.

Most auto parts stores sell the tool used to remove the clips from the handles for about $5. I managed to get mine off with some really thin needle nose pliers and another time I got them off with two allen wrenches but the tool is by far the easiest and least likely to cause damage to the handle or panel. This link might help, there is a picture of the tool.

Take a shop towel and slide it in between the window crank and the door panel. Pull the towel around the shaft the crank is attached to. The towel will catch on the clip and come right off. Takes a little practice but is the easiest way for me.

You need to buy one of these. Any good parts store will have them.
They work on the later models to that have the plastic Christmas tree holding the panels on.

I had this problem at a salvage yard once. I own tje right tool, but didn't have it with me.

A flat blade screwdriver, needle nose pliers, hammer and a lot of cussing did the trick! :exit:
