Considering a trade...gotta have a C10!

Like most things I get excited about, I'm pouring over this site daily and checking CL ads- even traipsing thru muddy fields when I see an old abandoned truck, but I've come to the point where I'm considering trading my hot rod for a nice one. Maybe a CL ad is in order? Afterall, a "truck" for a truck!!

Ahh yes the El Camino...the mullet of automobiles. Business in the front, pleasure in the back.

Too funny! You're right tho. Still made in Australia under the Holden name: the Holden Ute

Good looking vehicle.

My first vehicle was the GMC version of an '81 El Camino. The wife gives me grief about it, but her first car was an '81 Citation.

Could've been worse... at least it wasn't an 81 Chevette:metal:

Not for long, GM, Ford and Toyota are completely leaving Australia. Holden is shutting down. The "Holden" name will still exist, but they will only be an importer and dealership network for GM. All manufacturing facilities are being closed.

Quirky with NOS, 4:11 rear gears, and lifts the front wheels off the ground:metal: (but I digress...)

It will pull the wheels with T/A's on it? It is a bad machine. That factory four link is hard to beat though, I had a 71 bigblock chevelle I use to say it would hook up in gravel.

It's got a rachet-shift on the floor, and my son (when he was 10 or so) would slam it thru all 3 speeds, and I'd have to pull out just to get traction, but the front end picture (I've got it somewhere) was at the track, on T/A radials after the burnout box. We've left rubber all over town- it's something he talks about still!

The closure date isn't until 2017, but GM has reiterated they will not reconsider the closing.

They do plan to keep the Holden design facility open (for now) to keep working with GM north america (they technically brought us the Camaro).

Hey Grin

Welcome from a fellow New Hampshire resident. I have seen some decent trucks on CL. I tried to get mine by trading my Corvette. It didn't work. Everyone I looked at to trade wanted $3 to 4 thousand plus my car for a $5000 truck. I eventually sold my vette and bought my truck. Good luck and welcome to the board.

Very nice GMC you have there. Thanks for the welcome. Been on the site a lot, and perusing the CL ads as well. The Elky sits in the garage, too nice to use as a truck, and too much a hot rod for a daily. A nicely modified 70 or 71 would fit my lifestyle better.
Pretty ridiculous the prices I'm seeing- one guy in NH even raised his price from $7500 to $8500 lol
