Old'er engine in New'er truck [ straight 6 in 85 S15 ? ]

Old'er engine in New'er truck [ straight 6 in 85 S15 ? ]

Anyone seen someone stick a 250ish straight 6 into a newer S15?

No other reason then to have a straight and give it a diff look, carb'ed V6 needs to go.

I think that would be kinda neat. But the length might present problems but I think it would be very doable.

I know we got lots of threads about putting a T5 onto a straight 6, any chance a v6 700R4 would mate to one???

If it's off a 4.3 it will, but if it's the original 2.8 700r4, it won't work.

I like it. A nostagic straight six under the hood of a S15 would be cool.

I also like the simplicity of it from a mechanical point of view.

I would be worried about the length of an inline, as it would be roughly twice the length of a v6. The 250/292 is at least 8 inches longer than a small block, and a small block is a very tight fit in an S10.

If you need any inliner dimensions, let me know and I'll grab them off of my 63 Chevy II.

First I gotta see what I can find for a deal, I guess after that ill have to wing it.

Though always easier when they just sit down in there but im not afraid to make things fit ;)

you're going to need a sawzall, a welder, and LOTS of patience and ingenuity. I'd just swap in an injected 4.3 and all the electrical or get a stand-alone fuel injection kit.
