which 12v electrical harness kit is best?

Good day everyone!!

My old 52 chevy still has the 6v system. I will be installing a 12v system. There appears to be universal kits of varying number of circuits and then direct fit kits. The price for the universal is under half of a direct fit.

Has anyone had experience with using both? I dont mind spending the time with a universal kit, but if they are full of problems, then direct fit it is.

Thanking you in advance!!

I used an EZ wiring kit (21 circuit, mini fuse)for my '51. Nice quality, good price. I was considering the 12 fuse, but now I am adding power locks and possibly power windows so I am glad I bought the bigger kit.

I used a $150 kit from Classic, had no issues at all.

I used a kit called haywire, wires were labeled every foot or so,I looked at painless and didn't see any real differance so i went with haywire because it was a better price.

I used EZ wire too, Frankentruck required just about every circuit to be modified in some way so pre terminated kits would have been a waste. color coded wiring marked every 12", right gauge for the circuits. Pretty good instructions, and the three times I called with questions got the owner and quick answers. Details on my install in the build thread, only thing I did not do was take a picture of the back of the fuse panel to note where wires are paired at fuses.

My son and I used a Rebel Wire kit on a 55 Ford Ranch Wagon he is doing. Nice kit, well labeled, priced well and good support (if needed).
