Deleting heat riser?
I'm deleting a heat riser on an 83 c10 with a 305.Can I just put the exhaust pipe to the manifold or am I going to have to keep the heat riser and just gut it?I already have different studs for the exhaust manifold.

Re: Deleting heat riser?
I just put continuous vacuum to the heat riser valve so it will stay open when engine is running instead of waiting on some thermal vacuum switch to do it. I think in my old Nova in high school I just wrapped bailing wire around it to keep it open.

Re: Deleting heat riser?
I'm in Oklahoma so no smog.I would just like to completely get rid of it.I already have shorter exhaust studs laying around and don't want to spend the money on the longer studs.Alot of the exhaust tubing will be replaced.I didn't know if the donut will will work without the heat riser. Also is there a difference between the driver side and passenger side exhaust manifold donut?I noticed they reach. have different style of openings.
