Hood & fender emblems
 

Havent seen a thread on emblems yet, so I figured I start one. What I want to do is identify all the different emblems from 60-66...hood, fender, glove box. I have 63 OEM and repop emblems that Ill post tomorrow, and if you have emblems that you can help post, please add them. This thread should help some people that are looking for emblems and the differences in OEM and repoped. I have noticed slight variations in the repop/OEM emblems.

Ill start with the 60 & 61 hood emblems. The 1st picture with all three (starting from the top) are GM part # 3768897 V8 big truck (has three studs), #3763798 V8 light duty truck (has two studs), and #3767009 is the I6 emblem. These are all OEM emblems and and not reproduced as of yet. The second picture shows the difference in size of the big truck/light duty V8 emblem. The 3rd pic is the light duty V8 emblem. The 4th picture is the I6 emblem. The 5th picture is the big truck V8 emblem.

1960 Glove box script. GM part # 3743688. Not being reproduced. The same emblem was also used on the 1958 Chevy Del Ray Glove box.

i always thought the V8 emblem only came on the custom cab, not the base model?

Im not sure of the application of the emblems...if they had to be custom cab or not. Thats some of the stuff I was hoping that this thread could help on. I have seen standard cabs and custom cabs with them, but not sure if factory, dealer or owner installed. I just know the difference in the big/light duty truck and the trucks with 6cyl engines.

as far as I know all the 60-61 v8's had the v custom or not.

correct me if I am wrong, but was the large "V" for the tilt cabs only , and the short "V" for the c/10-80?
looks like the tilt cabs used the V up until at least 66...

some of us will probably never see these emblems: a 64 (62?)-66 toroflow diesel gmc emblem-the 3rd and 4th pics show a 66-, and the 60-61 V-12 emblem (I don't know if the V-12 emblem changed in 62 like the light trucks-although this pic shows 63?)

60-65 GMC big truck emblem, and then the 66

60-61 v6 emblem, then 62-66 v6 GMC.
all GMC emblems were available in either chrome or white depending on the trim package.

61 only apache,spartan and viking emblems were mounted on the side of the hood.
10-40 series were denoted on the hood with the apache emblem, 50-80 series used an emblem in the grille

gmc grille emblems 60-65 , and then 66 with the block letters, again available in either chrome or white

GMC used these same letters on thier lcf/snub nose truck (I could not find a pic of a 66-square letters on a lcf..), on the hood, and on thier coe, bolted to a square panel in the grille shell.
the also used the square 66 letters in thier 7000-8000 series (this truck might have replaced the lcf/snub nose truck that was available 60-65)

Heres some OEM 1963 c-20 fender emblems. GM Part # 3818128. These are not being reproduced. To the best of my knowledge, only the 63 c-10 emblems are being reproduced. I will post those pics tomorrow to show the difference in the repops/OEMS

Reproduction 1961 Apache 10 emblem on left...OEM on right. Best pic I could find....maybe one of the guys with a 61 can help with a better pic of a 61 emblem.

1962 c-10 emblems. Repop on the left, OEM on the right. There are some small differences in the bowtie in the repops

Here are the 63 c-10 emblems. The OEM parts are #381827 and are pictured 1st. The 3rd pic is the repops. There are several differences in the two that are hard to tell from the pics, but the top part has a slight taper on the OEM emblems & there are some minor differences in the bowtie.
