hahahahha, i drove my truck through the parking lot of the local United Artist theater last night set off 11 car alarms, made 4 of them go all the way off, i am running dual frowmaster 40 series with a H pipe and turndowns after the driveshaft crossmember, i love my truck

w/the delta-flow series you dont get a roar, but a louder throaty rumble.

If you want to make it louder and sound better, yank off those stupid turndowns. I had the same setup as you, except with no H pipe. I took off the turndowns a few weeks ago, and damn! The truck sounds alot deeper, and alot louder too. Several people asked me what i did to my truck to make it sound so good the day i took them off http://67-72chevytrucks.com/board/ubbhtml/smile.gif.

they are the delta flow, i'm pretty sure, i just forgot to mention that, i agree that i need to rip of the turndowns, just havent got aound to it, cant wait to hear it, i have a 1980 kawasaki klt 200 3 wheeler(i hate kawasaki, it was given to me, honda forever) but it has a homemade pipe on it thats provides back pressure, so it runs good, for a 'saki,it is louder than any harley around here,i think it pisses the neighbors off

While we're on the topic of exhausts...

Does anyone know how to get the sound (or one very close to it) of the stock LT1 Camaros and Firebirds? (Early fourthgen; 1993-1997, the LS1-powered models from 1998 on sound, how should I say it, a little fruity in comparison, at least around town. WOT is nice, though. I think that's more a factor of engine, anyway...)

Except that I don't want it in that somewhat restrictive single pipe/muffler setup. I plan on putting a pressure sensor in my exhaust and measuring the backpressure...if it comes out too high (using my dad's friend for help on this; the man built/drives a Mustang fastback with a completely custom twin-turbo / fuel injection setup on a 302 that pulls well over 500hp, possibly 600hp, on street gas, and gets 25mpg...aside from not knowing bowties beat blue ovals any day of the week, he knows his stuff. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/board/ubbhtml/wink.gif I'll put redoing the exhaust up near the top of my list of things-to-do. It will have an H-pipe (whether I add it to current ghetto Meineke dual setup or do a new one) so it'll smooth it out some...but does anyone know of any mufflers that sound (and flow, lol) like a Z28 muffler?

I just looooove the exhaust note on our '94 Z28, that's all...hehe....

i ahve a friend with a 72 custom 10 with the original 350 with rebuilt heads and some other goodies, he has a Borla system on his, not sure if he built it or bought it as a package, but it sounds a little bit like the camaroes

I don't think you'd find my 99 T/A sounding fruity. I'm running an uncapped cut-out all the time and it sounds mean as hell.

I understand what you mean though. I hated the sound of this car stock.

I would guess that you could duplicate the sound of an LT1 with an an "old school" SBC by just duplicating the exhaust setup. If you use the same diameter pipe, the same material i.e. stainless or whatever, and use the same muffler set-up, I would think they would come close to sounding the same. However things like resonation and dampening would be unique to the vehicle.

No, I doubt it. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/board/ubbhtml/wink.gif But to me, the stock and a LOT of aftermarket exhausts leave LS1/6 cars (even some Z06s seem to have it!) lacking in the bass department, especially at idle.

I just basically want the same tone from the outside of the car, especially at idle...I guess I'll just have to poke around some at the aftermarket exhausts and see what mufflers they're using.

Oh my. I have a stock 350 4 barrell in my 77 c 10. I also have stock manifolds and 40 series flowmasters, with rear dual side exits. The entire system is only a few months old now and is not very loud. Its the loudest at 30 mph, and when taking off hard. Its disappointing its so quiet. I love the noise just want it to be deafening, and its not. Anyone know why its so quiet ?

My system isnt really loud ,till I drop the hammer. thats with hooker headers,2 1/2" pipe,H pipe,40s/with turndowns. It does have quite a bit of resonance inside the truck though.......69 longhorn.

Jeez. Loud is what we DON'T need! Hot rodders already have a bad name without making noise. I'm actually thinking of adding some resonators to quiet down my Flowmaster 50s. Long live QUIET POWER!

hey rayhevy, the reason yours is quietis prob because its so long, the shorter the system the louder it is, i guess, my friend has a 68 camarowith eh 255hp 327, he replaced his turbo mufflers with flowmstrs40's when he heard mine, but he has rear exit turndowns, so heis is real quiet, but it has that muscle car soud that i cant touch

Raychevy, cut off your tailpipes, and get some headers. Both of those will make your truck alot louder. Mine is pretty deafaning at 30mph with the windows, hurts your ears kinda like a loud stero system with lots of base. Doing those two things made my truck sound better then all the little 5.0 rust-stangs and even the '02 Trans Am with a LS1 and a Borla system in my school parking lot. But, thats only my opinion.
