Seam Sealer Dual Caulking Gun

I decided to go with the 3M 08307 Self Leveling Seam Sealer on my '72 C-10. But of course you need the Dual Caulking Gun in order to use it. As many will know they ain't cheap so I went checking around. Seems like the average price is about $70 and you can find some for a lot more, but I found what looks like a pretty good one at Amazon for $34. Got it today and it looks great, but noticed that there are 2 different size round push plates on the ends of them. The small plate is fine, but the large plate is a little too big for the 3M tube.

You would think that they all would be standard, like the old Single Tube caulking guns are, but I found out today they are not. I'm either going to have to return it or modify it to work. Luckily there are 2 Screws holding the large plate on and I believe I will be trying to grind it down to make it a little smaller.

Wondering if anyone out there has ever run into this problem and also want to warn others to be aware of this if you buy one.

Sounds like you have the gun used for Corian counter top adhesive. Big side 2" little side 1" or smaller.

When I sealed my drip rails I did not have the duel caulk gun so I just push out equal amounts with a screwdriver and mixed it on a mixing board. I used a paint stick to put it in place then used my finger with a glove on to smooth it out. This stuff flowed out real nice.

Those guns are various ratios, yours sounds like 2:1 and maybe you needed 1:1.

I believe mine is a 2:1. Never knew one was different from the other. Heck, until just recently, I never even heard of a Dual, lol. Will be attempting to take it apart soon.

As a solid surface fabricator I can assure you that won’t work.
My buddy is a 3m rep and I got the gun for the seam sealer.
The self leveling is the only way to go!
Shoot me a pm. I can mail the gun to you to use with the promise you send it back wHen you’re done I think I also have some mixing tips.

Appreciate the offer and I may just take you up on that, thanks. But in the meantime I measured the larger push plate and as long as I can cut it down enough to get it to fit freely inside of the tube, would you still not agree that it would work? It going to be close, but it looks like I'll have about 1/16 of an Inch to spare.
