How do I remove the dash pad?
Just started phase 1 of the restoration of my 72 GMC Jimmy.
Got all the interior out (seats, carpets panels) and most of the exterior trim. I need to remove the dash pad. I got the 4 visible screws removed, are there screws from under the dash holding the pad as well? If so what is the easiest way to get to those screws? Is the exterior trim on the doors and front fenders held by clips or are there screws involved? It looks like there is a nut near the rear edge of the door that holds this trim piece? Thanks for your help! |
Re: How do I remove the dash pad?
There is studs on the dash pad the nuts come off from underneath.

Re: How do I remove the dash pad?
Some of the trim also has studs with nuts and some clips. If I remember correctly the front fender pieces and the doors are studs and the rear quarter panel pieces are clips.

Re: How do I remove the dash pad?
You gotta reach way up and find them. Helps to remove the glovebox and the radio.

Thanks for the help. Making another go at it today!

Re: How do I remove the dash pad?
Folks on the Jeepster page that I am on have had good results here (I personally have not used them for full disclosure):

Google Python Restoration and Ssnake Oyl. Both seem to do great belt work. |
Re: How do I remove the dash pad?
The reviews seems mixed on those based on Google results. Anyone having any direct recent experience with either one?
