Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

im assuming if I buy thw wildwood calipers pt# 120-10938 for the rear and 120-10936 for the front I can just buy d52 brake pads local instead of buying the calipers that come with pads for $300+ ?

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Sorry Captainfab; I was just rereading this rear disc bracket info and I came across my 2 cents worth and I had said a 77 chevy truck diff. while I have a 64 chevy truck 12 bolt.It was rebuilt but I have to do a axle swap to a 5 lug so my tires will fit back on( it came with 6 lugs) so I have to order those first and by the postings I should be able to upgrade mt 12 bolt soon !!! What exactly do I need/LOL/I guess everything !!! Thanks

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Yes you can just buy standard D52 brake pads from your local auto parts supplier and use them with the Wilwood D52 dual piston calipers.

I sent you an email :)

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Since you have a '64 truck 12 bolt, you will also have to change the side spider gears along with the axles. Once you have the axles out, remove the backing plates. All of my rear disc conversion brackets except the Impala SS brackets, can be R&R'd without removing the axles.

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Still trying to decide whether to go 6 lug or 5 lug, is there a 6 lug rotor that will work?

scottycrossin 12-05-2014 04:40 PM

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Sorry, I should also add that it is a 68 c10, 12 bolt that is currently 6 lug.

Captainfab 12-06-2014 02:43 AM

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

There is not a 6 lug rotor that is interchangeable with the 5 lug Astro/Safari rotor.

I do make 2 different 6 lug rear disc conversion brackets.

Captain
Thanks for the reply. Do you have a conversion if I would decide to go with 5 on 4.75?
Thanks

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

I started working on e 5 x 4.75 rear disc conversion several months ago, but never had time to finish it. I'm just not sure when I will have time. I'm still working 70-80 hrs a week and no relief in sight

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Do you know what caliper and rotor you would use with that kit; or have you gotten that far?

Captainfab 12-09-2014 01:44 AM

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

The rotor is a late '70's TA rotor. The caliper I would have to look at again and see what I was using on this one.

Hello I came across this post as I was searching for a solution for my rear brakes. Would this work on 1979 Camaro 10 bolt rear? The shocks are staggered does that matter?

oooh, I'm waiting too. I've got 5x4.75 on my 66 12 bolt and want read disks too!

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

None of my rear disc brackets will work on a car differential except for the Impala differential which has the same backing plate flange as the 1/2 ton trucks. They are all designed for use with the '64-'82 truck 12 bolt and '80-'91 8.5" truck 10 bolt

Well I guess I need to figure out how to get more than 24 hours out of a day and get those brackets finished up.

Captain,
Will your brackets work with c clip eliminaters?

Captainfab 12-13-2014 12:45 AM

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

I have not tried it but I don't think will work. The base bracket bolts to the backing plate flange on the wheel side just as the C-clip eliminator does.

I managed to squeeze a little extra time to work on the 5 x 4.75 conversion a couple days ago. If I get done early enough with the job in the shop tomorrow I'll see if I can make some more progress.

I have a truck 12 bolt but my axles have been re-drilled for the 5 x 4.75 pattern.

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

The new brackets I am working on are designed for that application or a Impala/Caprice with the 5 x 4.75" bolt pattern.

What pads you guys recommend for the d52 ' s that aren't $150 a set. I've got wilwood ' s on the front and stock front calipers on the rear. Truck will be mostly street with some autocross.
