power to coil, no spark

Can anyone help me? I have a 68 Chevy 1-ton Duelly, with the 292 straight 6. A recent oil leak flooded and shorted out my distributor. I have replaced the points, condenser, coil, and assorted wires, including the ones from the starter to the coil (+ side), from the fire wall to the coil (+ side) and from the coil (- side) to the points. I have power to the coil when the key is on, and power through the coil and to the points when cranking, but no spark out the business end of the coil. Does anyone have any ideas as to what I can try next? I really need to get my baby back on the road. Thank You!

Re: power to coil, no spark

You can check the coil by simply taking the distributor cap off and holding the high tension wire from the coil near a good ground on the engine. Then with the key on you just open the points manually with a non conductive item like a popsicle stick, You should get a spark from the coil wire to the ground. You have to be sure the points are off the lobe and closed or the coil will not charge. Make sure you have them gapped correctly and set the dwell at 35.
Have a look at this website and it may help too.
