HaHa! Good thing the hose is holding it on there. Hope you get it working again. I did the same thing with my magnetic LED trouble light.

Haha....that's crazy. I've lost tools before but never found them attached to the truck.

I should note that this is a pic I found BUT i have found brake line wrenches stuck on bleeder screws as well as all kinds of tools that have fell down in either a lower fender or frame section that was not accessible without dismantle.

Never left a ratchet that I know of, but I have found other wrenches and sockets in odd places also.

I wonder if that's covered under warranty.

I put an HEI in a friend's car many years ago. I dropped my shorty Snap-On 9/16" wrench while tightening the distributor hold-down bolt. It landed somewhere other than the driveway, so I finished with another wrench. I forgot to look before he drove off, so I figured that was the end of it. He had a built 454 in this El Camino, and I figured it would shake off. He went in to a shop for some work that required putting it on a hoist, and there was my wrench! He brought it in to me at work.

They probably have a bad rotor and just change the pads so often they left a wrench on the caliper bolts. Looks like the other one fell off!

For years, about half my tools were "found on road"

I lost a ratchet many years ago. A customer brought it in many months later, they said it was on the floor of their garage. The elements had taken their toll, a trip to Sears and all was well again.

I have a Chevy Trailblazer that us known for swallowing sockets. I have yet to find any of them.

Replacing the outside door handle on a '87 Accord once upon a time...

Had the inside panel off and the two year old out helping me. Somehow the 10mm combo wrench went missing; cussed myself and finished with some socket/pliers/vice grip substitute.

Fast forward a couple of years and I'm replacing that POS handle again. I dropped a nut into the bottom of the door. The retriever magnet came back with both the nut and the wrench that my young helper had left in there last time.

But where's the 10mm socket?

A buddy of mine used to work in a junkyard. When he quit I helped him move his tool box. He had an additional 2 boxes filled with tools that were taken from junk cars. It was an amazing collection of just about everything you could think of. They found everything from wedding gowns to drugs and weapons.

i have also had my lost tools return to me a few times which is nice. was working on a friends neon, and dropped a pretty large socket 1" or so, cant remember, and it went and disappeared in the engine bay. 3-4 months later riding with him we turn a corner and hear something metal fall from the car and hit the road. we pull over and look, and there she is the socket. also lost a 14mm wrench one day, couldnt find it, ended up replacing it with a new wrench. 1 year later customer van returns in and i had to remove the ladder from the rack to lift the vehicle, and in the rood rail, there lays my rusty 14mm wrench, i had use to install said ladder rack lol.

Since taking up road cycling and bike commuting a few years ago, I have found and picked up quite a few tools. Most of them are in fairly good shape, so they must not have been there long. I figure that they just rode along under the hood of someone's car/truck until the right combination of bumps set them free. This is the pic I took on Jan 1 of 2020. It was all collected from the year before. I didn't get much last year because my riding was cut short. The most notable thing is that I found 3 of the cell phones within one week, less than a mile apart. Not everything is safely retrievable, so I just left it.
I did get a few things in '20, but I'll just combine them with '21.

I've found lots of tools . My two biggest were an aluminum 16 ft extension ladder and a Jackson wheelbarrow, it must have been on a asphalt truck fairly new lots of tar inside it and the paint was burned off the front. Just had to replace one of the handles

Re: found it finally

I found an aluminum ladder on the freeway, back in the '80s. Killed a near-new Michelin X tire. :( I lost a 13/16" spark plug socket while tuning up my '69 Camaro. There was a hole in the frame (not rot) and that socket dropped right in. That hole wasn't much bigger than the OD of the socket, too! It was still in there when I sold the car.
