"Old Olive" 1970 C10 porterbuilt build

Hey Er'body!

Figured I'd start a build thread for my 1970 Chevy C10 Short Bed project. I guess I'll start with the stock truck photos and add the customization photos and explanations as I go.

Truck is an all original down to the original paint.

I've ordered several items for the build including:

Suspension:
Porterbuilt extreme front dropmember with the power rack and pinion steering, narrowed tubular control arms, shock relocaters, shocks, bags etc. Ordered the porterbuilt inner frame truss support. Rear will be custom notched and 4 linked with bags and shocks.

Accuair Elevel controller

Brakes:
Baer 14" discs on all 4 corners. The brakes arrived today, looks like these 15" rally wheels won't work anymore lol 5x5 axle conversation as well.

Engine/Trans:
Picked up this 6.0L Lq9 out of a 2005 Escalade with 17k miles. Ordered L92 heads, TSP LS3 231/236 Camshaft, PRC .650" Dual Springs, PRC Titanium Retainers, Sing; PRC .650" Dual Valve Spring, Texas Speed & Performance 7.40 Chromemoly pushrods, ARP LS1/LS2/LS6 Camshaft Bolts, LS3 car intake, and much more to come!

Other:
Unsure on wheels yet but likely big lip billet 22s up front 22 or 24s out back. Will have vintage AC, new stock style seats, door panels, hidden stereo

You must have a very thin caliper though.
Good luck.

Why do you say?

I'll be running 22/24s staggered likely.

Original 307 engine that is there now. Considered rebuilding but opted to go the LS route.

Yes, never saw that truck before...

Mine will have the original patina paint though.

I'm ambivalent about cutting up such a clean looking survivor, but I guess they're not rare. I noticed the steering wheel is black. Does it have tilt, or any idea why it's not green?

I had this exact same truck (color, year, engine, everything) except mine was a LWB. And it had a green wheel.

randomco 08-24-2014 07:28 PM

Re: "Old Olive" 1970 C10 porterbuilt build

It does have a green steering wheel, just a bad picture.

Tagged. In for this build.

You building the motor yourself? I want to put a LQ9 in my stepper.

randomco 08-30-2014 12:38 AM

Re: "Old Olive" 1970 C10 porterbuilt build

Yes the LQ9 I have only had 17k miles on it. Just got the L92 heads. I'm doing a comp cam, rollmaster timing set, double springs .650, hardened pushrods, LS intake, etc.
