Should I lower My Truck? Poll Please.

I have been kicking around the idea of lowering the truck a little, maybe a 3" front and a 5" rear and adding some Torque Thrust II wheels. I was thinking maybe give it a little different look. The rest of the truck is stock except for the cut radio hole, speakers in doors, and the under bed fuel tank with sidemarker fill. I will be adding Vintage A.C. this week sometime (already have the system, just looking for the time) with original style vents. Should I just leave it alone? What do y'all think? If anyone could photoshop for me the difference that would be great. Might help me make up my mind. Opinions please!

I vote for the change.
You can always put it back the way it was if you get tired of it.
There is always a market for those type of parts.
I like the stance of this truck.

I would leave it at the stock height, but that is the opinion of someone who lives on a dirt road.

Personally, I think the fleetside trucks look better dropped then a flareside. Keep it up.

Jeepster376 05-19-2004 12:42 AM

That truck looks so nice the way it is, I wouldn't change a thing.

67shortie 05-19-2004 01:26 AM

My vote is to lower it and put the TT2's on it. I just like these trucks down there unless it's a 4X4.

juju808 05-19-2004 09:38 AM

I personally wouldnt lower it... but if you are looking to change something, why not just change the rims? :p

Putter 05-19-2004 09:56 AM

I say lower it. The wheels could go either way....keep those or get new ones, but lower it.

kevin from oc 05-19-2004 10:52 AM

Lower it classic 4 and 6.......saweeeet

Bowtiefreak 05-19-2004 10:58 AM

Yep, lower it with a 4/6 drop IMO. TT2's are always a good choice too.

bigvinnie 05-19-2004 11:16 AM

As was stated earlier, you can always go back to what you have now... I'm getting ready to post some never-used Early Classic dropped spindles on the parts board if you decide to do the drop...

'70_402 05-19-2004 12:23 PM

Don't lower and use the money that you were going to use to drop it and get new wheels and start another project cause that truck is done!! leave it just the way it is!

Slammed67 05-19-2004 01:24 PM

I'd lower it and get some new rims. TT2's are cool but everybody and their brother has them, so go I'd for something different (but go with a 5-spoke wheel).

UltraDresser 05-19-2004 01:41 PM

Well Well someone in same dilema as me.... lookin for the same answers ..... mine sits just like that... I could live with it IF there was away to fill the wheel wells alittle better..... Anybody with suggestions? or personal experiance??
BTW that is one sweet lookin ride ... I have same only mines a GMC..... doin all the set ups on new stuff till I do a frame off during the winter.... gives me time to kick around a color as well ...................

the second pic: here is a black truck dropped on some sweet boyds also bagged

dont know about that much drop. but i say lower it with some rims

Palf70Step 05-19-2004 05:27 PM

I am for keeping it as is...RIms maybe, but I think they are sharpest like yours. But I use mine and don't need to drag anything on some of the roads I travel.

crazy longhorn 05-19-2004 05:33 PM

She is a sweet lookin truck for sure (as is).....I am very partial to dropped 67-72's tho ;) a 3/5, or 4/6 drop would look really nice on that truck! I like em with a nose down attitude on the stance......wheels are anybody's choice, too many on the market! The old ralleys I am running, I plan to run forever(did 4 swap meets to get all the pcs). I also have a set of 10's on the bench, that i need to "indcate" & weld the centers. Best of luck, crazyL :burnout:

Big J 05-19-2004 05:52 PM

Thats a hard call. It looks awesome like it is, but then again it would look awesome dropped. I vote either flip a quarter or build an exact replica but dropped and buy a trailer to haul it to the shows with your sweet stocker. :metal:

jamie72 05-19-2004 05:58 PM

noo way!!! put the wrenches down!!!!
imo id leave it alone,it looks too nice to mess with.

Canadian694x4 05-19-2004 06:06 PM

Just for the record I did vote "Lower and Change Rims".....BUT I think you have a beautiful truck and it looks great as it is too!!!

jorgensensc 05-19-2004 07:06 PM

Wow what a response! Thanks Longhair for that great photoshop! Juudging by the polls it looks like most everyone wants the drop and rims. A good point is made about being able to change it back later. i'm going to have to give this some serious thought. I just spent an hour putting on an A.C. compressor and brakets for my vintage system. It should have only taken me about 25 minutes. Stupid bolts and tight tolerance brackets:(. Oh well if that is the hardest thing I have to do I will be happy, but if not I'm in for a world of hurt.
Thanks for all the compliments about the truck. I would love to build a replica, only in a fleetside and truly customize it, but unfortunately other toys are in the process or in line first (the wifes '66 Midget, 2 new motorcycles, an old Chris Craft wooden boat) then possibly another truck!
