Factory paint schemes

I was looking at a truck that had a '85-87 grill.
It had a two-tone paint scheme where it was one color (light blue) on the bottom, then from the second accent(?)/body line up to the top of the fender/bed it was another color (dark blue). From the top of the fender over the hood it was the light blue again. Now, the dark blue "stripe" ran underneath the door window then turned behind the window and went over the top of the cab. the rear of the cab was dark blue as was the inside of the bed.
If this makes sense, can this be nailed down to a certain year?
I've seen this before with a different color combo and it looked pretty good. I don't like this particular blue/blue combo but for future reference I might try in on one of my own.

Like this right, I believe it was 1985 as shown.

Kevin:

The two tone paint treatment to which you are referring, and which appears in Chris’ brochure picture is the “Custom Two-tone” paint option (code ZY6). As you guessed (and as Chris noted), it was available only for the 1985 model year, which might make it a somewhat desirable option to find from a collector’s standpoint. It was available with all trim levels, and included the border striping you see in the picture, along with the hood ornament and wheel opening moldings (where they weren’t otherwise included).

Interestingly, this particular paint option deleted the Fleetside body side moldings that were regularly included with the Chevy Scottsdale/Silverado and GMC High Sierra/Sierra Classic packages (when it was ordered in combination with those trim levels). It also “officially” deleted the cab back molding that would otherwise be included with the Silverado and Sierra Classic trim packages, although I have seen brand-new (at the time) 1985 ZY6-equipped Silverado/Sierra Classic pickups with and without this molding.

A look at the 1985 Chevy Truck Facts book reveals that the following colors were available with this uncommon paint option…

Primary color- -Secondary color- -Stripe colors

Midnight Black- -Silver Metallic- -Orange/Black
Light Blue Metallic- -Midnight Blue- -Bright Blue/Light Blue
Silver Metallic- -Midnight Black- -Orange/Silver
Doeskin Tan- -Midnight Blue- -Bright Blue/Tan
Doeskin Tan- -Indian Bronze Metallic- -Light Orange/Tan
Doeskin Tan- -Apple Red- -Orange/Tan
Frost White- -Midnight Black- -Orange/White
Frost White- -Midnight Blue- -Bright Blue/White
Frost White- -Apple Red- -Orange/White

I would like to find one of these unique trucks, too. Incidentally, a similar (but not identical) two-tone treatment was exclusively offered for awhile in Canada for “Wrangler” models that were available there.

Good luck in your future search for one of these uncommon trucks with the “right” colors!

Thats the one!
I used to see a truck like that in West Seattle all the time when I lived there. It was kind of rough, but I think it was the silver with black on top. If in nicer shape it would have been cool.
The one I saw recently is behind an apartment building were a friend lives. The tires are white walls and the white is streaking down to the pavement, there is a thick layer of dirt and grime on it (you almost can't see through the windshield), moss growing underneath it, but the tabs are good until June '05?
My friend is going to see if he can get some info for me as all the parking spots are reserved.

I would like to see the one with primary midnight black, Secondary silver, and orange stripes. I was thinking silver might be a nice addition to the black on my truck. Plus, It's an 85, so I have every right
