Next four pics are of a very nice 51 chevy pickup, been coming to the show for about 4 yrs.

Whew, I LOVE the color and I'm shocked I do. It looks borderline purple and I've never liked purple.

Your welcome on the pics. I'm so happy with mine, runs great, I've been driving it a least 3 days a week, weather permitted...Jim

Hey Dan, it is a beautiful truck. It does have a purple hue, but is a dark cherry color, you know how pics don't show correct...Jim

Actually this is GOOD! Doesn't matter of course since my truck is already painted but I'm glad to hear it's cherry.

My truck's color doesn't remotely photograph accurately either. It either looks fire engine red or a sort of brick red-orange in the photos. It's actually a very dark true red and not maroon. 2012 Honda Milano red is what it is.

Thanks lower. First time I've seen a TF made into a conv. Looks like he did a nice job, still has a good solid mount for the windshield. Is that the roof in the bed, was it metal???...Jim

Re: My 50 roadster pickup build

Yes that is the roof in the bed I believe it was metal. If I see it again ill get more details.

It is Different, but the rounded style of a AD Truck just seems a better fit to me. OR maybe I just LOVE Jim's Roadster after seeing it in person!

Hey Jim, It's been so hot I haven't felt like working in the shop. I do have the wife's 64 in it and taking the crossmember off so I can put a later model disc brake one on it with power steering. I am planning on a full tear down this fall and painting it flat black after some body work. My goals are to get AC in it and make it safer for her to drive it Long Distance. Other than that I have just been driving the crap out of my Caddy!

Ray, I hear you about the heat, the small 12,000 BTU ac unit in the shop keeps the temp down some, but still feels warm when you work hard . Glad your enjoying the Caddy. Are you putting in 71-72 or 73 member...Jim

Re: My 50 roadster pickup build

Jim, I haven't purchased the cross member yet. I was hoping to find a complete but wrecked truck as I would like to change out the 6 lug rear too. I'll be hitting the salvage yards later this fall.

Thanks lower. Pics show how in the front the pin goes in the hole, and the long slit must be his latch. Nice and clean looking...Jim

Well folks, I've been driving my truck alot, the last few months, and been very happy with performance, etc. On Thursday (8-24) I noticed a rubbing sound if I made a left turn and took off fast. Friday I had Mark drive the truck at the same spot and again the rubbing. After we got home we lifted the hood and I could see shavings of black plastic, then I noticed the shoud showed cutting. I started the engine and Mark watched will I brake torqued it a little. Had a broken motor mount and the engine was rising up.

Pic 1 Got new motor mounts and started removing wires, headers, etc., to be able to remove the thru bolt.

Pic 2 Removed both side, just to be safe.

Pic 3 New mounts, these are not like my orginals, but should be OK, for awhile.

Pic 4 You can see the difference in how they are made.

Pic 5 Here's how it was pulled apart.

I guess after 13 yrs of use, getting on it hard a few times:lol::lol:, and the auto cross I did last year the rubber just gave up:devil:...Jim

I had to call Mark and have him come over to help me put it back together.
Need a man to work the jack to raise the engine to get out the thru bolt. And it never fails that the new stuff doesn't fit like the old. The new mounts moved the engine forward about 3/8". Now the header flange didn't line back up with the exhaust pipes. Mark had to use a tie down strap, to move the exhaust forward to line up with the collector. Put everything back together, and started it up and had a small exhaust leak on the drivers side. So after it cooled down I restraped the exhaust, pulled it forward more and tighten the bolts. No more leak.

Pic 1 and 2 is everything back together.

Been driving the truck this week and everything is great...Jim

The old motor mounts ONLY lasted 13 years??!! Pieces of crap.

There's a bunch of stuff on my truck that wore out after only 60 years. I can't believe how badly they were made. HaHaHa.

Dan, yes it is amazing how things were made then (in the USA), compared to today...Jim
