Big Block or Small Block?? Help!!!

I have had so many different engine combinations thrown at me its getting complicated.

1. 2002 Corvette Z06 powerplant(Dude didnt deliver on the package):banghead:
2. 2000 Yukon Vortec (388 sleeper I'm thinking about building myself)

or the lastest......

Guy I work with offered to sell me the 468 race engine from his racecar for cheap. He's stepping up to a 540 and offered my the entire engine for $3500

468 done by a shop in Arizona
T&G Intake
12.5 comp
2.25-1.88 valve(steel head)
1050 Dominator
Comp Cams Hydraulic Roller setup
around 700hp on 100 octane race fuel

i cant build the 388 I want to for that:smoke:

Dont know if I'm willing to try and drive a 12.5:1 comp Big block on the Street though.. the race fuel isnt the problem. I dont mind spending a lil bit on fuel.. feedback on this would be great. Whats the most compression are you guys running on the street??

wanted to say 110 octane race fuel....

feedback please.. I've been doing` bikes for a while. 12.5 is nothing on a bike... mine streetbike was alot higher than that... but a truck?? I'm not talking daily driver. Just an occasional slow roll, cruise nights etc.. a little bracket racing every now and then

For whats it's worth I just pulled the tired 305 out of my 79 blazer 2 wheel drive and shoe horned a 454 with a T400.
I think I'm going to like it but it is a mild truck block 454. Not overly built.
Compression seems high for a "street: machine unless you really plan on messing with people a lot!. Not that that is a bad thing.... :)

I plan on making it bad day for the guys with the sleepers around here... plan on putting them to sleep:lol:

worst case i guess is changing camshaft and pistons.. getting it down to 10.5 might help a hole lot.

I'm by no means an expert, unless it comes to women and even then I am lost, but getting that comp down will help for drive ability.

And you should still be able to mess with people. they will never know what you have under there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You will also be a sleeper in a sense.

Re: Big Block or Small Block?? Help!!!

I checked with a few guys locally with nice hot rods. Some are riding around with 12.5 compression now. One guy is even doing it on pump gas and retarded his timing to stop detonation. I'll just mix my own fuel and keep the engine like it is. I would rather it be overkill and be happy instead of having a 468 that gets run over by a 5.3 fuel injected C10.

If i do it... I want it to be one bad mofo. Not just another C10 with a lazy BigBlock:ito:
