69 C10 starting issue

i have a 1969 C10 396. i just changed out the starter solenoid because the starters from advanced and auto zone cross referance over did not fit. so i just got a new solenoid and had them test it on old starter. everything tested just fine and passed. i installed starter back on truck connected my positive wire and my activation wire from ignition switch. now when i try to start my truck nothing happens. when i turn the key to the start position the brake light on the dash lights up. the truck started prior to changing out the parts. i dont know if there is something missing, a blown fuse...anything. i need help from anyone that may be able to help

deathlinx, moving you to electrical for diagnostics. Good luck!

make sure the small purple wire is on the right erminal... the one marked S
Double check the shifter is all the way in park, and that the cables are tight on both ends (battery, starter motor stud and engine block)
Those are the simple mistakes after an R&R on a starter.

Also, make sure the cable from the battery is not corroded on the ends. If they're old cables, the break is internally at the connectors and not visible to the eye.

One question. What was the original problem? If the starter was dragging or not engaging properly, you may still have a problem with the rotor or drive asm.
