Not sure to be honest. I'm sure though if you look around you can find the six lug version. I saw them on an '88-'98 the other day. 6-lug pattern.

Got some new tires that are gonna go on the front.

They're almost brand new, and they were off of the front of a junk '64 GMC long fleetside that my cousin scrapped. He saved the front tires because I traded him out of them, and he saved the hood and tailgate. Junked the rest of the truck; it was all bondo and rust.

Also, popped my spare off the wheel [the tire was traded to my cousin to get the Cobras], cleaned up the wheel, and painted it black. The right front tire on my truck now, is gonna be my spare when I change the tires. Left front has cords coming out so it's junk.

Well, good news and bad news. Bad news first: The front hubs on my dad's 2000 Z71 are toast, so that isn't getting driven for a while. Good news! Fixed the left front side of my suspension, the tire was leaning in at the top, fixed that. Tomorrow morning, the Cobras go on, and the truck goes in for an alignment. So woo hoo for that! :)

Pics with the Cooper Cobras on the front will be posted ASAP.

Re: '92 GMC Southern Comfort Daily Driver

lookin' good kid. keep us updated.

Dub_X 06-25-2011 12:28 AM

Thanks! Updates will be slow, as I have a lack of funds due to no job. :/ but I will update as much as I can. I'm thinking once I have the ability, I'm putting a skull theme into this truck. Rearview mirror, valve stem caps, license plate frames, etc. All that kinda junk. And after I repaint the truck, I have an idea for the cover. I have a pair of 67-72 GMC 1500 emblems, not sure what year they actually are. One says GMC 1500 V-Eight the other says GMC 1500 Custom, I'm gonna polish those up and put them on my tonneau cover, and stick a 'Dub Edition' [corny, I know] emblem on it. I wanna put a Southern Comfort graphics kit back on it, but I don't see it happening because I doubt I could find one. Especially for a 20-year-old truck. Anyway that's enough of my blabbering. Once I have the ability, updates will surely be constant. :) Oh, and if anyone could answer, would dropping an LS1 in this truck take away my pulling power? Cause even though it's a light-weight truck every now and then I pull a big ass trailer that was made out of a semi trailer. I just wanted to know if I'd lose the pull in the truck if I went from a 350 TBI to a 346 LS1.

Re: '92 GMC Southern Comfort Daily Driver

This, my friends, is why I LOVE the scrap business. Finding shxt in cars, that I can put in my truck. Example: PERFECT working Sony XPlod head unit and speakers.

Sony XPlod CDX-L410X Head Unit
http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...65060202_n.jpg

6" X 9" Sony XPlod XS-V6933 Speakers
http://a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...67935023_n.jpg

Question! Anyone know a good place to put the speakers? I uh, can't figure out where to put 'em. I'm thinking the doors? Someone help me out here!

Re: '92 GMC Southern Comfort Daily Driver

build a box and stick em under the seat, or build a console/speakerbox to go from the dash all the way back to the rear seat.

I've got a middle seat, so I can't run from the dash to the rear seat. BUT since we're on the subject, do you think a box on the center hump of the floorboard in front of the middle seat would work?

Also, I feel kinda dumb for asking this lol, but I don't know squat when it comes to wiring, so where do I wire them into? I know this is part of the reason this thread exists, but I still feel stupid asking this lol.

yes it would, I was originally gonna do that aswell but min is a 4wd so I couldn't fit it. but you should be able to. how many speakers are going in it? and you might want to consider an amp.

Just 2. 6 x 9 in. And I don't have money for an amp lol otherwise I would.

Re: '92 GMC Southern Comfort Daily Driver

understandable. i would put one speaker facing driver and one facing passenger, it evens out the tone. But i would definately look for a 100 watt amp because your gonna be pulling hard on the HU and the wiring behind it pretty hard without one.

Lol I know I need one.

Re: '92 GMC Southern Comfort Daily Driver

Okay, I have a question for all of you guys that like your trucks low in the front and high in the back like me. I'm planning on lifting the back of the '92 two to three inches...but I'm not sure how much of a drop I should give it. I was thinking of replacing the front coil springs first, because one side is lower than the other due to the springs being heated, and I want the front even before I drop it. So, my question is, with 2-3 inches up in the back, how much do you think I should drop it in the front? This is a thought for the future, not anytime soon as I don't have the money.

Re: '92 GMC Southern Comfort Daily Driver

Cranked the back up 2 inches. Gonna leave the front how it is.

Re: '92 GMC Southern Comfort Daily Driver

Put 2 inch blocks in the back end.
Should have put new u-bolts in BEFORE I ever put a lift in the back; the bolts rusted in half, I put an impact gun on the first nut, and it rusted in half.
http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...09920342_n.jpg
http://a2.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...39538336_n.jpg
Total tire clearance: 7.5 inches on the back from the top of the tire to the bottom of the fender. Front: 5 inches on the passenger side and 4.5 on the driver side. When the front end was dropped, they did it wrong, so one side is lower by half an inch.

I might take pics of the u-bolts and how bad they were rusted.

Scary thought: This was holding my rear end:

All four u-bolts looked like this.

Whoa! I haven't see stuff like that since I left Pennsylvania many moons ago. Glad you caught it before something bad happened.

sorry I missed this. depending on where you mount them. if you mount in the rear tap into the regular speaker wiring, theres plenty of strength in those wires for two extra speakers. if mounting somewhere up front tap into front speaker wires. just check pos to pos and neg to neg, run it backwards and you'll go through speakers like me. thats quite often but its not due to bad wiring haha
