Introduction

Morning

I am new to the site.
Bought a 1971 C10 in 2022, fleetside 350 with TH350. Broke down 4 times getting her from San Jose to Pleasanton CA on a 105 degree day. Ending up on tow truck. Should not have filled the tank before starting the drive! Stirred up a lot of ancient debris.....start of an ongoing learning process.
Been working on her ever since: pulled the engine and tranny. Replaced motor with custom rebuilt unit. Had the transmission rebuilt, posi track, new brakes, Conceptone pulley system, vintage air, new carpet and seals, aluminum radiator with twin electric fans. Rebuilt driveshaft.
This vehicle was built in the same plant as my wife's Tesla.....Fremont, CA.
This is my first effort in these old trucks. Great learning experience! And now she is pretty quick and reliable too!!

Looking at hydroboost as the next project. Live on top of steep hill will hairpin turns. Not enough vacuum on the way down....

Hey, that is a nice-looking truck. And the motor looks great too. Hydroboost is a good way of fixing low vacuum issue brakes. I've been thinking the same thing with my 72. I have a 511 BB that gives me around 11 inches of vacuum. Seems just enough to make the brakes work. But I know they can be better.
Keep working on it and you will get it where you want it.

Nice and very clean truck.

Have you considered a Vacuum Reserve Canister to help with the low vacuum?

Beautiful! Love that color. The interior looks great.

I see the disk brake sticker is still on the tailgate. Is this original paint?

Thanks!

The guard dog is Spencer....he loves riding in the truck. Especially as he can lay out across the bench seat and rest his head on my leg!

I did look into a vacuum canister but not convinced it will help me on the hill so decided to go hydroboost.

The truck came with that paint job. Not original I am pretty sure. Had a couple of rust areas repaired and/or replaced......doors and sills. I try to do everything myself but that was too much for me. The guys who did the work were great and the paint match superb.

I put a Borgeson steering box on too. What a difference!

Love the truck. I grew up in the area. My uncle lived in Sunol, I drove a '71 C20 camper special and traveled Nile's Canyon every day after I got my first driver's license. :) Now I have a '72 C10, as close as I could get to the old truck. Just starting my project. Glad to see yours looking so good.
