If I had an option ... I would buy the kick panels without the speakers ... then buy a High Efficient speaker. :metal:

Hey, have you posted your setup anywhere. Do they rattle at all? Do they need to be caulked or anything. I'm thinking about moving my speakers from under the seat. It's valuable real estate for cramming stuff! Did you paint them? Looks like summit is getting in on the classic truck action more and more!

Classic truck parts has the kick panels, $129.00, plus shipping.. they work fine. Chinese made , also crowds the parking brake.

I put in a retrosound. I had to get an amp. It was loud enough but the sound quality was not there. So you may want to consider an amp. I got their small one, it really cleaned up the sound. Just thought I would add that, thought it's not the original question! :chevy:

I have them installed - good fit, but the sound of the speakers coming with the panels is definitely a little too "retro" (rather tinny and without bass) for my taste. I have replaced them with other speakers (brand is "Gladen") - you surely can take any other brand, just take care they have the right diameter and depth (as I remember, the necessary depth - which I can't remember because it's quite a while ago since installation - was not easy to find). Even when switching to higher quality speakers, when you are into deep bass tones, you absolutely will have to install a subwoofer. There are some really small ones on the market that can be installed underneath the bench/seat.

And I can't recommend to install the panels "out of the box". To prevent the plastic from vibrating, I adhered a rather heavy "sound deadener mat" on the backside of the panels.

I would buy them again - but just the panels without speakers ;)

I would get their size ... looks to be about 5 1/2 ...

Then go to an audio store and compare size and then look for High Efficiency speaker ...

Takes less power

I have them, came in the truck when I bought them. I beleive they have the speakers that came with them. I dynamated the back of them and the kick panel itself and used double sided 3m tape to mount them. I have them powered by an alpine amp from the front channels with a single sub bridged on the rear channels and it sounds pretty damn good.

I had to use spacers for my JL audio component speakers to fit and the speaker does get in the way of the E brake pedal but I don't use my E brake anyway so no biggie, I also had to trim both kick panels a bit. Other than that they fit good and the speakers sound great. I ordered the kick panels from Crutchfield as I found them to be the cheapest price from there. I ordered the JL component speakers which also came with crossovers from Amazon, very good price for the sound.

I was going to go the route of kick panel speakers, but then stumbled onto BigBlock's cab corner panels. I'm moving the gas tank and like this location a lot better.

Just in case anyone else might want to see/consider this speaker location.

Also think its amazing how many members we have that make awesome stuff like this.

I have these also. Modified the parking brake pedal to clear, rotated the dimmer switch 180 degrees. Put JBL speakers in the kick panels. On the passenger side had to trim the kick panel for clearance for the vent flapper (A/C cab). 3M Velcro and the Precision door gaskets hold in place. Also put a 8" powered sub under the passenger bucket seat. Very pleased.

I purchased these and will install behind the back seats. These are vintage Jensen self enclosed speakers.

~ They don't rattle.
~ I didn't use caulk. 3M Dua-Lock (think industrial Velcro-but different ;) ), push-on door gaskets and the screws for the floor vent lever hold it in place just fine.
~ I didn't paint. My carpet is black so the speaker panels blend with the carpet.
~ No pics. They look just like every other speaker kick panel.

I have them, had to trim the firewall edges. Still putting my i interior back together, painted them red. had to move my dimmer switch in.

Used these and 6x9 pods attached to roof. Installed 6.5 speakers with tweeters in both and built a custom sub box.

I bought a pair of speaker pods and attached them to my kick panels.

no idea what brand they are, came with the K20 Burb I picked up last month.. thankfully, NO speaker hacks :metal:

all seems to work well enough for what it is, even with the left side shaved off from parking brake pedal..

You could shim the parking brake assembly out away from the side of the truck too, with some spacers and longer bolts for more clearance.

Does anybody know what the mounting depth is? I haven’t had much luck finding that. Planning on getting a set without speakers and run my own coaxial/component setup.

for some reason 1.25" depth at the most shallow spot come to mind. the kick panels are RetroSound. the speakers are Kicker 6.5 sound/heat deadener also behind them.
