The 6" lifted 2WD 69 C-10, "Rustoleum Special"
I've had this truck since 2007, it belonged to my best friend who was killed in a motorcycle crash, when his folks went to sell it I offered to buy it and instead they gave it to me to keep his memory alive. We had originally been working on it since 2000, it was his first truck, and up until '07 we had already installed power steering, single pane windows, headers, flowmaster mufflers, and power brakes. Shortly after I got it I purchased the new grill, bumpers, rims and tires. Since then it has just kinda been sitting. Now I've got the motivation again and am hoping to get this thing finished by the end of June.
Here it is as of 2007, has about 3 coats of Rustoleum primer at this point http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...69truck002.jpg Nasty old interior with a burnt out seat http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...69truck003.jpg The Flowmasters http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...69truck001.jpg |
Re: The 69 C-10 "Rustoleum Special"
Here are the new bumpers, grill, rims, tires, and El-Cheapo mirrors which are now in the trash... (as of 07). Plus another 3 coats of Rustoleum...

Re: The 69 C-10 "Rustoleum Special"
In 2009, my brother and I finished up the interior. It looks better now (2012) as it has new rubber on the pedals and the ac garbage is gone. We trashed the old seat and installed a $80 "new" set out of a wrecked 08 Chevy Silverado. I added some braces under the seat bolts so the seats wont eject through the window in a crash, New instrument cluster bezel, chrome, emblems, Kenwood radio mounted under the wheel. Installed a vintage looking tac. that actually works very well. Also serviced the tranny which is a NewProcess A833, "four on the floor"... The orange is the original color my buddy and I painted when we were 16, so it's gonna stay.

Re: The 69 C-10 "Rustoleum Special"
Skip forward to last month. I gutted all the AC and heating. And tossed out the old quadrajet manifold. If you want any of this stuff come get it!
http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...0/DSCN0659.jpg Made my own heater/AC delete and painted the engine bay up a nice satin black color. I also installed a new Edelbrock EPS manifold, air cleaner, and cast valve covers. I felt it would compliment the headers, cam, and Edelbrock 4 barrel carb that were already on this old 350. Still a bit dirty but better... http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...0/DSCN0658.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...0/DSCN0650.jpg |
Re: The 69 C-10 "Rustoleum Special"
As of the last few weeks, I took of the bumpers, grill, trim, etc. to start some body work. I saw the $50 paint job thing and am gonna give it a shot, I felt I should stick with Rustoleum since there is already so much on here!
Well here are the trim holes... http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...0/DSCN0653.jpg I used some fiberglass to patch the holes from behind http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...0/DSCN0655.jpg After the glass dried http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...0/DSCN0654.jpg Then sand, sand, sand, all the nicks and ding too... After sanding I used some body filler on the holes. Let it dry.... Then more sanding! http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...0/DSCN0656.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...0/DSCN0661.jpg Then more Rustoleum primer, and I have a smoothish looking door! http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...0/DSCN0663.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...0/DSCN0662.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...0/DSCN0657.jpg The driver side door is really hammered, and still wavy, it was pretty much made up of Bondo from the beginning. Stay tuned for more updates! |
Re: The 69 C-10 "Rustoleum Special"
Reviving this thread. After several years I figured it is time to actually build this truck. I sold my Dodge ram and Yamaha R6, was able to pocket about $15k for this truck. I am literally replacing EVERYTHING. Not gonna be show truck, but is gonna be my jetski hauler.
Before teardown http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...pszvi3iabo.jpg Dodge I sold http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...psj2pkh1kn.jpg Gutting it http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...psmfolrm0y.jpg New shocks, Prothane can mounts, 1" lift spacers. http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...ps1styyyq3.jpg |

Re: The 69 C-10 "Rustoleum Special"
New upper and lower control arms for a 73-87, BB springs (+1"), 4" lift spindles. The sway bar in the pic didn't work, it hit the tie rod at half lock. This was replaced with a CPP sway bar using c1500 6.25" end links that sit above the tie rods.

Re: The 69 C-10 "Rustoleum Special"
Another spindle view, powerstop calipers, new discs. I will not be using wheel spacers btw.

Richmond 3.73 rear, final install tomorrow, will also have a Spartan locker.
http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...psdezfqvaj.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...pshzn35tkc.jpg At some point in time, the rear axles we're replaced with 73-87 5 lugs, way too long. Replaced them with the correct length Mosers. Rebuilt brake stuff while I'm there. http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...ps4mmwmcj5.jpg |

Re: The 69 C-10 "Rustoleum Special"
Rear is fully assembled. Hopefully I got the pinion depth right, otherwise I'm gonna have to pay a shop to do it. Local guy wants $1200 :/

Re: The 69 C-10 "Rustoleum Special"
Here's my enlarged and reinforced driveshaft loop. It now fits a 5" Dana alloy shaft outta a 2010 Dodge ram. It'll still need to be shortened roughly 6".

Re: The 69 C-10 "Rustoleum Special"
Engine, trans and accessories getting put together. Had to weld an extension to the alternator bracket, shimmed all components 1/8" to fit the weiand water pump.

Re: The 69 C-10 "Rustoleum Special"
You can see the gaps in the fender to door, the hood is misaligned too. That's what happens when you meet a parking lot light pole while doing donuts
