The description for my interior is LUU1 Buckskin. I bought SEM light buckskin, I didn't see just buckskin, I think it's too light. I see in the LMC catalog that the arm rest are saddle but that looks darker than my door panels. Can any body clarify if SEM's light buckskin is the same as my interior color code?

Re: Interior color code

That SEM light buckskin is probably a GM car interior color ... GM trucks had different interior colors/codes and I ran into a similar issue when trying to match the LDD1 blue in Dad's 77 GMC. The only SEM codes I could find listed were for cars (not trucks). So I ended up having it color matched and custom mixed.

You can go to the GM Heritage Center website and download a Vehicle Information Kit for your truck at: http://www.gmheritagecenter.com/gm-h...tion-kits.html

These kits contain loads of information about what was available in terms of factory options, drivetrains, and so on. Most of them contain at least a page or two with color availability charts showing what interior colors were available with the various exterior colors (both solid and two-tone combinations).

I purchased a set of map pockets from LMC and thought I would be able to match the color. Haven't had the best luck so far, I think I'll go to an upholstery shop and see if they can make a set of map pockets. I would think they would have some vinyl that would get close to one of the colors??

Hey 77BBGMC,
I got the same problem with my buckskin interior on a 77 C10. I tried LMC's saddle color and it was very dark. Then got SEM Light Buckskin and it looks too light. Have you tried SEM Palomino? It looks closer than SEM Light Oak or Light Buckskin.

If you call them, they can help with color matching.

USA1 Industries claims to sell a coating that matches the 77-78 buckskin interior. They say it's their own formula and not from SEM:
http://www.usa1industries.com/produc...roductid=19969

I found the original Sherwin Williams document that gives the color codes for cars and trucks from 1977. The interior codes for a 1977 GM truck with buckskin interior are:
- light buckskin. J4-7352
- fisher code: W25A-4763
https://www.sherwin-automotive.com/p...Manual_pdf.pdf

I don't have easy access to a shop with SEM coatings, so if anyone has tried their Light Buckskin, Light Oak, or Palomino, I'd like to hear which one seems closest to the factory buckskin of a 77 GM truck. (I've also read that using a satin clear coat gloss adds a bit of a darker tone).

Re: Interior color code

Always figured my interior would end up being 15 different shades of tan once it was all done. Even with everything being new. Seems like a tall order to match plastics, the seat fabric, and vinyl like the sun visors and map pockets. Then you have the metal trim pieces which technically call for different paint than the plastics. I'm thinking a high end auto upholstery shop in a big city would probably be the only ones with a strong chance of making everything match pretty well. And you just tell them to redo the entire interior and pay through the nose.

SEM Camel color worked good for my 88. Factory code says medium cognac interior but I couldn't find a dye that color. I bought the camel color and it is damn near perfect.

I have found that none of the SEM colors match. I’ve been using USA1 Industries Dye, and it matches everything I have used it. Here’s a set of Saddle Tan Door Panels.
