Drove by this truck in a small town. What and why?

Re: Not photoshopped. Odd truck
Maybe there’s a V12 in there :) Weird looking stretch.

Re: Not photoshopped. Odd truck
Wow that is ugly.
|
Re: Not photoshopped. Odd truck
Pretty big exhaust on it too. My guess is a diesel swap that turned ugly.
|
Re: Not photoshopped. Odd truck
Oooh. Good call I didn’t even see the size of that exhaust there. That’s probably it.

Re: Not photoshopped. Odd truck
That is how you converted a long bed to a short bed in the olden days :)
|
Re: Not photoshopped. Odd truck
My guess is the chassis belongs to another vehicle and they thought it would be cool with the square body pick up on it.

Re: Not photoshopped. Odd truck
Frame might have started life as a long bed crew cab.

Re: Not photoshopped. Odd truck
Maybe it's some sort of makeshift storage area under the hood.;) I hate to bother people, but a truck that crazy would make me want to knock on the door to satisfy my curiosity.

There has got to be a reason. Like WyattTX suggested, I'd be knocking on the door |
Re: Not photoshopped. Odd truck
Okay, now I'm just making up stories. But I feel like you can see a line on the front fender where the stock one ends and then the 16 or 18-in was added on. That looks to me to be about the amount of the aftermarket extended cab conversions. So if the extended cab was wrecked or rusted-out would this be an easier solution? I don't know.. If you wanted to smuggle stuff, would anybody catch on that there was a big space behind the engine compartment? You'd think so, but they repainted, replaced the trim, and did extensive work on a hood to make that fit. I actually think the custom work happened in the 80s though because of the rear window louver.

Re: Not photoshopped. Odd truck
Maybe it has a V-16 in it ???? :)

Re: Not photoshopped. Odd truck
What is that front bumper and side marker light from?

Re: Not photoshopped. Odd truck
Perhaps someone crammed a class 8 engine into it. I don't know if a light duty truck could take that kind of power, but that's the only reason I could think of for needing a lengthened engine bay on a truck with an already massive engine bay. Of course there may also be people crazy enough to put a V16 into a square. Or maybe Elon Musk built that truck to hold batteries for an electric conversion. This truck is ain't pretty, but it looks a lot better than the Cyber truck does.

I bought an old motorcycle in that town and have to pick it up. I will stop and ask about it and hopefully get more pics of it. Great comments. Every time by I thought, what the $&$(; is that.?

I am giddy with anticipation.

Re: Not photoshopped. Odd truck
Or maybe a 584 cubic inch inline 12 ?

Re: Not photoshopped. Odd truck
couldn't find it with a quick search but there was a build thread I was following that the op was stretching the front end for I6 diesel clearance..

I have seen the stretch noses on a couple older C10s, to be able to fit the GMC twin V6 motor. cayoterun had this one

I am enjoying all the unusual vehicles that are being drawn into this thread. I'd like to see more about the bike, and hear the backstory. That stretched dually with the camper that is half submarine is very intriguing. I'm a bit fascinated about the idea of two inline vintage GMC V6s.
Oh yeah, plus there's that long nose truck that started the whole thing. |
