Body lines cab to bed
 

Working on a swb 68 c10 and have a new aftermarket bed which looks nice but. The body line from the door and cab to the bed do not line up. The bed line is 1 inch high and needs to come down to match the other lines. Anyone else run into this on a new bed. Thinking the only way to fix is to notch the cross sill so it will sit at the proper height. Frame is straight and frame mounts to floor measure the same on both sides and truck is level.

The top line needs to be where the bottom is

If your mounts are from LMC. That may be part of your problem. Getting good rubber from Classic Heartbeat, GMC Paul's would be recommended. Proper mounts then cab can be shimmed a bit.

If your frame is 3/4 ton (C20) and your bushing kit was for a 1/2 ton (C10) it will cause that. The rear bushings on a C20 are taller.

Did not even think about that. That being said, while not likely. If the frame was converted to 2wd from a 4x4 frame K10 or K20. Same condition as LockDoc said.

When you say rear bushing do you mean cab bushing.

My cab was low like that with the bed sitting directly on the mounts. Wasn't an inch though, maybe a half.

I shimmed the cab up at all four points as well as the core support.

Bushings are for c10. Shimming the cab 1 inch seems like a lot. Only needs 1/2 inch on the other side. There has to be something i'm not seeing yet but i'll figure it out.

Yes, the rear cab bushings.

I was not just bashing LMC. I have heard of several people having problems with their cab mounts/bushings. If you look at my thread you can see how my cab was sitting at the start of the thread. Were like that since installed new. Almost an inch low. After installing the ones from Classic Heartbeat I had to use the 1/4" rubber isolators on the bed and suck the cab down. You did not say were your rubber was purchased. Just know you cannot go wrong using one of the forum vendors for parts as most of them use the parts they sell.

Can you take a picture of the rear cab mount brackets and bushings?

It would be a big job to drop the bed down that much. I think your only option is to raise the cab to match the bed.

Seems like i got the bushing from truckhaven in Tenn. I don't think i'll end up lowering the bed. I think the cab will have to go up. My brother and I are going to take a closer look at the problem tomorrow and i'll let u guys know what we find out.

Here is a Diagram showing the difference between C10 and C20 and k series mounts

you can see the C20 up and k Series rear Cab mount sits lower on the frame then the C10

Where is that image from? It is incorrect in illustrating that the C10 and K10 are the same.

Just from the one picture I'm not seeing 1". Looks less to me. Looks like the door is about 1/4" high. I'd say just a bit of tweaking is required, as is normal when assembling a truck. I know of no issues with the reproduction beds lining up as they should

Ok, figured it out. I bought the cab in Tenn. It had already had a new floor put in and other parts. The thought came to me today that maybe when they put the floor in they didn't get it just right. Actually i had to do a lot of re work to the cab but anyway. There was just no way the bed was out that much. So i started to shim the cab. 1 inch on the drivers side and 1/2 on the pass side. When i crawled out from under it the lines where where they needed to be. Still need to do some leveling and squaring but it will be fine.
