Pontiac is back?
I just ran across this story in the current Car&Driver mag. It's like a 2 page ad. Is it true? Would GM allow someone else to use the trade mark in the story? Did GM release this teaser? It sounds like the time is right. Did GM put this out to gather consumer feedback? Watch the vid and let us know what you think about the possibility and or what you know about it.

Re: Pontiac is back?
Inside back cover of May/June 2024 Car and Driver magazine has the full page ad shown in that video.
Printed at the bottom of the page is "DISCLAIMER: Do you need to be told that this advertisement is fake and not to be taken seriously? Our lawyers think you do." So it makes you wonder if it is fake, or a clever teaser? Or something else? Sure would be interesting if they actually brought it back. |
Re: Pontiac is back?
The guy even said so in the vid but there is the question who wrote it, who paid for it and why was it done?

Re: Pontiac is back?

According to the vid it is the perfect time for GM to bring Pontiac back since the last Camaro was built the first of this year, Dodge Challenger is gone. There will only be a Charger in 2 or 4 door with a straight 6 engine, no more V8s. GM can't let Ford and Dodge own the performance car market. Don't even say well GM has the Vette as it has moved on to world class supercar status. |

I will go OFF topic then right back on. I saved my Nephews (Ar se) He drove a ATV in the Creek /with all the rain we had. It took 7 Oil changes to flush the water out. The Ev we rode in to get all the oil and filter wrench and Stuff was Neet and different. I turned the Air conditioning fan up and the car started Accommodating for it. I thought (Heck) if you run the AC on this? are We going to have to walk the last few miles home?? Back on Subject.:mm: This sounds like a Great strategy for GM. They still got the Olds 442 under there belt if they want to play that card. ;) |

You see the disclaimer at the bottom of the ad?
Was Car & Driver just having a laugh at April Fools time, on their dime? Would be a cruel joke aimed at die hard Pontiac fans for sure. |
Re: Pontiac is back?
TransAmWorld in Florida built modern Trans Ams based on the Camaro. Now that the Camaro is dead, it will be interesting to see what they come up with.

Re: Pontiac is back?
Another interesting thing is GM doesn’t even own the rights to the trans am name, trans am depot bought them from SCCA when Pontiac went under. I’m not sure how trans am world wide gets around this unless they are paying trans am depot to use them.

Re: Pontiac is back?
Yeah buddy! As expected, they are pricey. I guess the brothers have done pretty good with the business. They sort of resemble some plastic models made back in the late 60s where they exaggerated bodies but still looked like the real car enough to know what they were. Seems like they were called wacky racers or something like that designed by Dave Deal I believe.
https://www.bing.com/images/search?q...IQFRML&first=1 For comparison, the original 1970 Chevelle SS had a starting price of $3,417 when new. Today, the 1970 Chevelle SS is worth about $85,000 on the used car market, according to J.D. Power. The most expensive model listed on the TAW website is the Bandit Edition Trans Am with a sticker price of $230,000. Trans Am Worldwide Pricing Model Price 2015 Camaro SS $37,000 2014 Hurst Judge Edition GTO #7 of 7 $160,000 Hurst Judge GTO #2 of 7 $170,000 70/SS From $175,000 Bandit Edition Trans Am #24 of 77 $230,000 Woooooooo, get you some of that! |
Re: Pontiac is back?
Their cars are nice and seem like good quality. I just wonder what they will do no without new camaro shells to modify.
