OK not as nice as the ones above but what do you expect for a 21 year old paint on a red truck here in phoenix, but hopefully that will change after my son gets his truck out of my garage

That red truck is nice. That sun can do damage to your dash also.

Eyegore 04-20-2007 06:54 PM

Re: How about some pictures of '73-'87 short beds

Thanks -well 86 the only damage i have is when the idiots stole the stereo out of it, I have a dash-mat to keep the dash from being to damaged. You can see where the black primer shows through on the hood.

some dick head did the same thing to my truck last april, they tore everything up. I am just now getting to replace it.

Eyegore 04-21-2007 12:16 AM

Re: How about some pictures of '73-'87 short beds

Yeah i'm just replacing mine also, I may have to add a metal plate around the opening, they bent it pretty bad when they pryed it out w/ a crowbar, after they popped the wing window out. My wife ahd it installed as an anniversy present, lasted one month before stolen.

can not friggen have anything....they pryed the bottom metal part of my dash out probably 10 inches, I was able to bend it back but they busted the hell out of the gauge cluster, bezel and dash. I had a dakota digital fixing to go in it, glad it didnt

Srubydo1986 04-21-2007 12:22 AM

Re: How about some pictures of '73-'87 short beds

ill say it again put sharp object(aka razorblades) behind the dash near radio. thatll stop them im still need to do it to mine had it in my other truck but no one stole it really wanted to see if it worked. :)

Eyegore 04-21-2007 12:23 AM

Re: How about some pictures of '73-'87 short beds

I feel your pain, through the board I was able to find a used bezel in real good shape, I may get everything done hopefully this weekend.

Search for recent posts by ojoe (*EDIT look here). He has posted detailed pictures of the how he did it.

mike nutt; speaking of his crew-swb projects, the red one pictured was a dually in the last pictures he posted. At least the front end was. Any idea about what he did for that?
Also, from what I have read the 1 ton frames are quite different from the 1/2 ton frames. Curious about how he grafted the frames together for that.
I guess I'll find that thread and post that question there.

kevin1970, there are some pics post of the frame at the back of this post http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=218953 ,the red truck and the black one both started out as one ton crewcabs . the black one got a complete 1/2 ton front crossmember , the red one got 1/2 ton upper and lower a-arms with drop spindles .the rear frames were both cut and 1/2 ton shortbed frame sections were added . hope this helps , mike

Yes it is a 74 with a later front end. I will be returning it to a 74 front and replacing the stepside with a fleetside bed.
