Poll: double pumper or qjet?
aaaarggggghhh!!!! everyone i ask that knows what there talking about says something different! 462 with 292 cam, dont care about gas mileage. i was so close to ordering a 850 qjet, then at work i was talkin gto a guy that builds the diesels for the trackmobiles that we build and he has built a couple 11 secind cars, his current an elcamino, and he says get a dual feeddouble pumper 850, volume is best for my motor??
For your combo, Id go with the Holley dp......I would think 800 cfm would be enough, unless you plan a strip only deal. good luck:bowtie:
i agree with crazy longhorn..if performance is what u want go with the d.p.
thanks guys, i want the most possible hp so i'm gonna go with the 850. i dont know where i got "dual feed" from, what is the diff? is a double pumper a dual feed? so i should order the "classic double pumper, 850 CFM classic carb, 429.95"
one more question, which intake manifold do i get to go with this, i am going with the performer rpm, but do i get the spreadbore or oval port? is the dp a spreadbore? whats ths diff between the spreadbore intake and the oval? thanks, sean |
most double pumpers are dual feed......that means it has 2 fuel inlets..I know you have seen those chrome lines that go to the front and back bowls on the carbs.........that is dual feed........a quadrajet would be a single feed.......just has the one fuel inlet.........the Holley 6210 and a few other quad replacements are double pumpers, but have a single inlet, for ease of use and fit.........as for size.800 should be fine.........mine is a 750 and I have pretty much the same thing as you, except Merlin heads on mine ....hope this helps
As far as intakes....spread bore is the pattern for carbs, such as a quad..small primaries and large secondaries...........all you need is a square bore for a Dbl. pumper holley..........the oval/square port thing, depends on what heads you have............. |
Id do the double pumper...I used to have a 780...mechanical secondary..very nice..just a little tricky to fine tune

Holley Double Pumper if you really dont care about mileage. can i borrow it when i go to the track?
holley double pumper is the way to go!

Sorry, I voted for "Stop asking questions". :D There wasn't a "Dominator" option. It's the best carburetor I've ran by far.
Randy, thats a cool "carb spacer" you have under that dominator:D
Thanks! You won't see another one like it. Nobody makes a carb-to-blower plate for a single dominator. That one was milled by my friend "Bob Manning" of Bobs blower drives. He did the fuel lines and distribution block as well. :)
