How hard to add paint divider chrome to cab ?
I may want to add the divider chrome to my 70 and do two tone paint job. Cab did not come with that trim. I have the trim and clips from a donor and my other truck has the trim so I can get measurmennts and spacing, but how would you fasten the clips to the cab ? I thought of pop rivits but they seem to big and could make potential leak and rust spots. Is there a way to weld the little studs like original to the cab ? Any thoughts ?? Thanks

Dont' know if this would work, how about 3-M double side tape. I've seen it used on emblems, moulding, side trim etc. Tough stuff!!

Yes You Can Have The Little Studs Welded To Cab. My Bodyman Had One Of Those Spot Welding Guns For Welding The Nails To Sheetmetal For Pulling Dents. Used An Adaptor For The Short Nailheads And Just Welded New Nail Heads To Cab And Now Have Cab Divider Chrome.

there is a pop rivit that you can use. You just drill a 1/8 inch hole and pop them in and it sticks out so you can slide the plastic clip on it. I used them when I installed the chrome around the back of my cab. And they worked real good.

We have the little screw-in studs for trucks that do not have the welded studs. They are part number 100339. Also have the replacement plastic clips that slide over the "nailhead" stud if you need some. http://www.mar-k.com/Moulding_Clips_install.pdf If you have not painted yet, the best bet is to have the body shop weld replacement studs on. This assures no rust or leaking over time. As mentioned above, just be sure they are they are the right length and in the right position. Fortunately you have a donor cab for a pattern.
