New from NC

Hello people. I just wanted to introduce myself officially. Live in Statesville, NC. Have worked in racing for 15 years. Engineering at top level NASCAR for the last 3 years. I have always wanted a 67-72 C10. I have checked out these forums in the past only dreaming. I got more serious about looking over the last year. I narrowed my want down to a 1969 or 1970...something about that front grille. I finally pulled the trigger a few weeks ago and bought a 1970 Custom/10 from Georgia. It needs quite a bit of work, but it is definitely a great canvas. Got it home and gave it a bath. Already replaced the power steering gear box and pump and all new lines (with help from here). Body work is in the near future and will be painting back to black. The coolest thing so far about this truck (and I guess I forgot) is that the current NASCAR suspension is modeled off this truck, so I feel right at home working on this thing. See ya around!

Welcome from Jamestown. Do you work for a team or a supplier?

Welcome from Race City USA. I agree on the grill. It's what settled me on the 69 I bought.

Looks like a very nice starting point.

Welcome, what team do you work for? My college room mate and his twin brother worked in Engineering as Interns at Penske during college.

Oh and I had to do a double take when I saw your truck and the "NASCAR" in the information. I was out at Bill Martin Tire one day getting some tires swapped, checking out a similar black c10, not sure of the year, it was too long ago. Looked like just an old farm truck good shape, but faded black paint, lots of mess in the bed. Had a fresh shiny small block under the hood, and what looked like a brand new upholstered seat. Looked closer and spotted some fancy women's Oakley sunglasses in the seat. Thought it was odd to see in an old truck like that, then I noticed the name on the shop ticket: Ryan Newman :uhmk:

Thanks for the welcome guys. I actually work for the manufacturer. I give direct engineering support (chassis and aero) to all of our teams in the top 3 series.
